The Privacy Counsel will join the Data Privacy team in New York and will advise internal and external stakeholders on privacy matters, ensuring ethical choices and helping Adyen thrive. The role involves strengthening the global data privacy compliance framework, providing privacy advice on various business aspects like financial products, data products, and HR. They will identify data protection obligations and risks, implement privacy procedures, educate stakeholders, and stay updated on privacy developments. The role requires strong analytical, communication, and strategic thinking skills.

  • 5+ years of data privacy experience (including GDPR)
  • Experience in commercial negotiations, compliance frameworks, and incident management
  • Experience with financial services and or tech companies
  • Ability to educate others on complex ideas and provide training

Privacy Counsel

We are looking for a driven and enthusiastic Privacy Counsel to join our Data Privacy team in New York. In this role, you will enable Adyen to thrive within the financial sector and create unique business opportunities while making ethical choices. To do this, you must have strong analytical and communication skills as well as pragmatic and strategic thinking while advising internal and external stakeholders on privacy matters.

What you will do:

  • Together with the team, strengthen Adyen’s global data privacy compliance framework. 
  • Provide strategic privacy advice on a wide range of matters within the business, including financial products, data products, incidents, contracts, HR, marketing and product development. 
  • Anticipate and identify data protection obligations and risks. 
  • Implement practical and scalable privacy procedures.
  • Educate stakeholders on privacy obligations.  
  • Keep track of new legislative proposals and other legal and compliance developments regarding privacy across the globe. 

Who you are: 

  • You have 5+ years of data privacy experience (including GDPR).
  • You are a team player who likes to collaborate and include different people to sharpen your ideas. 
  • You are a generalist with experience in commercial negotiations, strengthening compliance frameworks, vendor assessments, incident management, data transfers, data protection impact assessments and privacy by design.
  • You have experience with financial services and or tech companies. 
  • You have experience educating others on complex ideas, communicating them clearly, and providing training when necessary. 
  • You have the ability to structure and prioritize in a high volume, fast-paced environment and build and drive processes to completion.
  • You are available to work from our New York office and travel to other offices periodically.
