Job Description

As a Gameplay Producer at Cloud Imperium Games, you will support Senior Producers in delivering gameplay features and technology. You'll manage the day-to-day operations of gameplay teams, collaborating with leadership and across all production areas. Responsibilities include driving gameplay initiatives, ensuring on-time and high-quality delivery, understanding game mechanics deeply, resolving risks, mentoring other producers, and championing efficient processes. You'll work on large-scale projects, utilize project management tools, analyze player feedback, and foster a positive team environment. The role requires experience as a video game producer within a development team, preferably in a Gameplay, Design, or Programming department.

As a Gameplay Producer you will be responsible for supporting the Senior Producers with the successful delivery of gameplay features and tech, working globally across all areas of production and collaborating heavily with the Leadership Team. You'll essentially be in charge of the day-to-day running of gameplay teams and initiatives.

Founded in 2012, Cloud Imperium Games creates cutting-edge videogames that defy expectations. We’re currently developing Star Citizen, a record-breaking multiplayer online space sim, and Squadron 42, a cinematic single-player adventure set in the same universe. What do our Gameplay Producers do?

  • Drive and champion gameplay initiatives by collaborating with the Direction group to track and deliver features at an excellent level of quality on time
  • Play and know the game inside and out and understand the impact of new features in development
  • Serve as a global driving force working with the Leadership team for delivering the project’s goals to the priorities set with the resources available
  • Identify, communicate, and resolve any risks and changes that may prevent the team from delivering on time or quality
  • Anticipates and solves problems independently and collaboratively while developing collaborative relationships
  • Line manage various producers working on the project, providing oversight, mentorship and growth opportunities
  • Champion efficient practices and processes to the team, whilst providing motivation and ensuring a healthy team relationship
  • Undertake other duties and responsibilities assigned by Cloud Imperium Games reasonably consistent with employee’s skills and experience, including supporting our hiring efforts


What would we expect from our Gameplay Producer?

  • Excelled as video games producer working with development teams
  • Experienced working on large scale projects as a producer, preferably as part of a Gameplay, Design or Programming department.
  • Highly proficient with standard project management development tools and methodologies
  • Desire to further the quality of the game and increase player satisfaction by reviewing player feedback and identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Proactive attitude with mindset for streamlining and improvement
  • Comfortable with conflict resolution and distributed team building skills

About The Company

Cloud Imperium Games is a new kind of independent studio dedicated to delivering AAA experiences outside the established publisher system, founded by Chris Roberts, creator of the best selling Wing Commander and Freelancer series, Cloud Imperium is currently developing Star Citizen, a record-shattering crowd funded title that combines classic space sim gameplay with Hollywood-caliber visuals.
