Applied Materials is seeking a Product Management Director to lead multidisciplinary teams in identifying customer high-value propositions and providing solutions. This role involves originating, developing, and executing complex technical projects, influencing future technology and product strategy, and setting product roadmap features to meet strategy and demand. The director will focus on technical challenges without readily available solutions, influencing strategy to address business and regulatory issues. Responsibilities include managing critical complex issues impacting long-term product development, designing and analyzing complex engineering experiments, and making recommendations on decisions affecting major product development programs and business success. The role requires acting as a technical mentor, judging technical approaches, and serving as a company resource for specific technology. The director will also represent Applied in industry forums, acting as a thought leader and engaging with management, customers, and vendors to influence decisions. A deep understanding of customer products, roadmaps, and strategies is essential for providing continuous input into the product line roadmap.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify customer HVP’s and lead multidisciplinary teams to provide solution.
  • Originates, develops and executes the most complex technical projects and influences future technology and product strategy.

  • Responsible to set product RM features to meet product strategy and DOW.

  • Focusing on technical challenges that may not have an identified solution by customer, competitors or within industry (Customer HVP’s).

  • Influences the strategy to address internal or external business and regulatory issues.

  • Works on critical complex issues that impact longer term product development and business success.

  • Originate, design, perform, collect data, analyze and compile reports on unusually complex engineering experiments and provides solutions which are highly innovative and ingenious.

  • Recommend on decision’s that impact major product development programs and business success at the division/segment level.

  • As a technical role model to Applied' s technical and engineering community, this position acts as a mentor to guide less experienced engineers.

  • Typically, is involved in judging the approach and verifying the validity of technical strategies.

  • Deep subject matter expert who consults with management and customers on exceptionally complex technical issues.

  • Viewed as a company resource for specific technology and interacts with the engineering community internally and externally, based on business need.

  • Represents Applied on industry boards/consortia, seen as a thought leader in area of expertise, regarded by customers and external leaders as an expert and thought leader in their field.

  • Have vast knowledge of customers products, roadmap and strategy which enable him to provide constant feeding into the product line roadmap on customer HVP & technology RM.

  • Proactively identifies and solves the most complex problems; uses ground-breaking methods to think beyond existing solutions.
  • Directs the resolution of highly complex or unusual performance problems applying advanced analytical thought and judgment.

  • Impacts business direction through the development of innovative services or products.

Interpersonal Skills

  • Negotiates with senior management, customers, regulators or vendors to influence decisions.
