Job Description

As a Product Manager in Publishing and Fan Engagement at Netflix, you'll build technology to engage fans and media with insider content information, create immersive experiences, distribute merchandise globally, and execute marketing campaigns. This role is at the intersection of consumer experience and Netflix Studio, focusing on innovative promotion and distribution. You'll develop product roadmaps, lead cross-functional teams (design, engineering, data science), build business cases, measure impact, and work closely with creative teams. Responsibilities include driving initiatives for compelling digital experiences, supporting marketing campaigns, partnering with publishing and consumer products teams, and ensuring that Netflix's editorial properties (Tudum, Queue, etc.) effectively engage members and fans.

As a Product Manager in Publishing and Fan Engagement, you will create technology to engage fans and the media with insider information about our content, power access to immersive experiences, distribute merchandise to global audiences, and execute creative marketing campaigns to drive engagement and conversation.

This role sits within the Content Promotion and Distribution organization which is at the intersection of the consumer experience and Netflix Studio. Our team is integral to making the Netflix experience feel personal and relevant by developing innovative approaches to how we promote, localize, and distribute content. Because our products impact both consumers and content creators, we seek someone who can fluidly move among both worlds, applying strong product principles and strategic frameworks, while deeply empathizing with the art and craft required to create great content. 

This role can be based out of our Los Angeles, Los Gatos or New York offices in a hybrid model or remotely from the West Coast. Regular travel to our Los Angeles or Los Gatos offices will be required if remote or East Coast based.

As a product manager at Netflix, you will:

  • Build a strategic roadmap and take product concepts from idea through validation, shipping, measurement, and iteration.

  • Author strategy memos and presentations and represent your team’s work to senior executives.

  • Lead a team of stunning colleagues across design, engineering, and data science to deliver outstanding products to our customers. 

  • Build business cases and measure the impact of your product innovation.

  • Work alongside your design partners to deeply understand and socialize the evolving needs of our customers.

The Role:

We are looking for a Product Manager to advance our portfolio of products that drive conversation about our beloved titles. We give our members the opportunity to be immersed in some of the most beloved titles as they are brought to life in front of them at a Netflix House, an experiential entertainment venue. Or we help our members dive deeper into their favorite stories on - Netflixs’ premier destination for members and fans to deepen their connections to their favorite titles and discover their next obsessions. Whatever the forum, our ultimate goal is to deliver a new way to experience Netflix and drive fandom by engaging with stories, characters, and talent, beyond the core Netflix experience. That’s where you come in. This role spans everything from the engaging digital experiences we offer to our members to the products that enable our marketing teams to bring each story to life. 

As a Product Manager in Publishing & Fan Engagement, you will be responsible for:

  • Driving initiatives across a suite of products that deliver compelling digital experiences for consumers that keep them talking about Netflix.

  • Driving initiatives that help our Marketing teams bring campaigns to life and grow our web properties.

  • Partnering with the Publishing team who is responsible for engaging our members, fans, and the press with content across all Netflix editorial properties (Tudum, Queue, Written Comms, and Podcasting)

  • Partnering with the Consumer Products team who is responsible for helping members and fans experience Netflix titles through physical touchpoints - whether that be merchandise or experiences. 

Our wish list for the person in this role (remember, no one ever gets everything on their wish list!):

  • 5+ years of Product Management experience with a proven record of prioritizing and successfully launching products or platforms

  • Ability to inspire, motivate and lead a cross-functional team - your ability to build strong relationships is critical to success

  • Experience working with creative teams and/or building products for creative teams (especially Marketing teams)

  • Worked in a direct-to-consumer business, where the consumer is paying for the service

  • Experience using data to inform priorities and evaluate impact of initiatives

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills - you will write a lot!

  • An ideal candidate is a highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and drive alignment amid ambiguity. 

  • Bias towards action, and can independently and effectively rally cross-functional teams and drive projects forward with speed

Generally, our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top-of-market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $120,000 - $515,000.

Netflix provides comprehensive benefits including Health Plans, Mental Health support, a 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer match, Stock Option Program, Disability Programs, Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts, Family-forming benefits, and Life and Serious Injury Benefits. We also offer paid leave of absence programs.  Full-time hourly employees accrue 35 days annually for paid time off to be used for vacation, holidays, and sick paid time off.
