Job Description

The Production Manager oversees daily manufacturing operations, ensuring efficient and reliable production processes while maintaining safety standards and quality objectives. This role involves managing staff, optimizing workflows, coordinating with other plants, and supporting company-wide initiatives. The Production Manager will plan and execute production schedules, drive production efficiency, measure performance, coordinate with other departments, implement Lean Manufacturing principles, collaborate with Production Engineering, utilize ERP systems, supervise production staff, monitor overtime, foster a collaborative team environment, and develop and manage the production budget.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree or 7+ years of manufacturing management experience
  • Current driver's license
Good to have:
  • Experience with Epicor or similar ERP systems
  • Background in Lean Manufacturing, 5S, or Six Sigma
  • Experience leading safety initiatives and compliance programs

L&M Radiator, Inc. has been a leading worldwide manufacturer of customized and carefully crafted heat exchangers for Mining, Construction, Oil, Gas and heavy-duty equipment industries. We are seeking a motivated individual to join our team at our Yankton facility, located in South Dakota. This position reports to the North American Production Manager, work shift is Monday-Friday 7a-4p, overtime when needed.

The Production Manager oversees daily manufacturing operations, ensuring efficient and reliable production processes while maintaining safety standards and quality objectives. This role involves managing staff, optimizing workflows, coordinating with other plants, and supporting company-wide initiatives.

What do we want to know about you?

  • Bachelor's degree or 7+ years of manufacturing management experience, preferably in metal fabrication and assembly
  • Current driver's license

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Epicor or similar ERP systems
  • Background in Lean Manufacturing, 5S, or Six Sigma
  • Experience leading safety initiatives and compliance programs

What will your typical day look like?

  • Plan and execute production schedules aligned with company strategy
  • Drive production efficiency by maximizing product quality and output while minimizing downtime
  • Measure performance against established standards and solve problems affecting production
  • Coordinate with affected departments regarding schedule changes or delays
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing principles to enhance processes, reduce costs, and improve productivity
  • Collaborate with Production Engineering on equipment upgrades and workflow improvements
  • Utilize ERP systems to track materials, allocate resources, and plan production
  • Supervise and develop production staff, including hiring, training, evaluating, and disciplinary actions
  • Monitor overtime and maintain appropriate staffing levels
  • Ensure Production Coordinator is cross trained as backup
  • Foster a collaborative team environment aligned with company values
  • Develop and manage production/plant operations budget
  • Identify and justify CAPEX needs to management
  • Communicate performance metrics and support company initiatives
  • Carry out directives from the North American Production Manager
  • Implement and enforce plant policies, safety programs, and quality procedures
  • Ensure all work is conducted according to safety guidelines
  • Domestic and international travel as needed, potentially including weekends
  • Perform related duties as assigned by management

You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.

The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. More information on offered benefits, which include health, welfare, and retirement, are available at mywabtecbenefits.com. Other benefit offerings for this role may include an annual bonus, if eligible.
