Job Description

Lead the Production Tools team at Massive Entertainment, developing tools and processes to enhance developer productivity and game development efficiency. Responsibilities include managing a team, writing maintainable code (Node.js/Typescript, React/Typescript), developing RESTful APIs, interfacing with data sources (Jira, PostgreSQL, Redis), and collaborating with programmers, producers, and analysts across Ubisoft studios. A strong understanding of statistics and data analysis is crucial. The role involves improving the quality of life for hundreds of developers, focusing on features, testing, debugging, and maintaining internal applications.

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced backend/full stack developer to lead our Production Tools team.

As team lead, you would be responsible for managing the team that is developing production tools and processes to help developers track the progress and efficiency of their projects and make shipping games as effortless and pleasurable as possible. You will ensure we can improve the quality of life for hundreds of developers across many disciplines. You will be using a wide spectrum of technologies ranging from Redis, Kubernetes, Docker, git, JQL, PostgreSQL, Node.js / Typescript on the server side, to the React / Typescript stack on the front-end.

You should have a good understanding of statistics (linear regression, normal distributions, mean, median, mode, etc..), this will help you understand the tools you will be working on. Your primary responsibility will be developing RESTful web APIs and interfacing with data sources. Experience with Jira and understanding data query languages is necessary.

You will work in close collaboration with other programmers, producers, and analysts, with the frequent opportunity to collaborate with other Ubisoft studios.

We are offering a permanent position in Malmö, Sweden, with the flexibility to work partially from home (up to two days a week) under our Flexible Workplace Policy. Please apply using English, our company's primary language. 

What you will do

  • Leading, guiding and mentoring the team, whilst adhering to Massive’s core values
  • Writing clear, modular, and maintainable code
  • Participating in and leading feature task forces for technical design and implementation/improvement of new features
  • Testing, debugging, profiling, and maintaining existing code
  • Developing and maintaining internal APIs and web applications in React and Node.js

Qualifications

You are an experienced lead, and have worked in large, project-based organizations before. You appreciate working with high quality technology and are confident in your communication skills. You enjoy working and collaborating with a team that is open to innovative ideas and is learning and experimenting together to produce creative and innovative ways of solving technical problems. You take initiative and you are comfortable with working autonomously. Besides the above we are looking for someone aligned with our core values and the following skills and experience:

  • Proven track record of successfully leading a team
  • Professional experience with Node.js / Typescript
  • Skilled with writing efficient and highly optimized systems
  • Solid understanding of distributed services
  • A passion for statistics and data analysis
  • Experience with React, JavaScript, CSS, HTML
