This is a project intern position which means we will highly prefer candidates who can start the internship ASAP. The position can be based in New York City/ San Jose/ Los Angeles/ Seattle, and we required a minimum 3 days RTO per week once onboard. Responsibilities - Conduct research related to global macro trends (economy, international relations, sociology, etc.) through interdisciplinary lens, using open-source research methods to draw an understanding of where things are going. - Conduct social impacts research: track relevant development and trends, compile regular briefings and analysis based on published works such as industry reports, academic articles and media opinions, and contribute to a nuanced understanding of technologies' impacts on society and humanity. Research is expected to be conducted through an interdisciplinary approach, including but not limited to macroeconomics, history, international governance, sociology. - Participate seminars, workshops, conferences and other relevant events, facilitate and participate dialogues with industry experts, and provide synopsis and analysis of how new information fits into company needs and future outcomes. - Complete other ad hoc tasks assigned in a timely manner, including writing, researching, editing, and reviewing.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications - Graduate degree or above - Excellent research skills: open to new topics; strong "problem consciousness/awareness" and critical thinking; ability to search and collect most relevant information in a swift, accurate and comprehensive manner; proactive and self-driven, eager to dive deep and explore; able to deliver under pressure. - Strong curiosity in technology's societal & human impacts and other related topics. Preferred Qualifications - Major in humanities and social sciences, e.g. international relations, history, law, sociology, etc. - Interdisciplinary education/research/work experience in humanity topics preferred. - Internship period: three months minimum, 4 days/week at least ByteDance is committed to creating an inclusive space where employees are valued for their skills, experiences, and unique perspectives. 【For Pay Transparency】Compensation Description Intern (hourly)

The hourly rate range for this position in the selected city is $44- $49. We cover 100% premium coverage for Full-Time intern medical insurance after 90 days from the date of hire. Medical coverage only, no dental or vision coverage.

Our time off and leave plans are: Paid holidays and paid sick leave. The sick leave entitlement is based on the time you join.
