Broad Functions and Purpose of Position:
To ensure effective implementation, monitoring, and continual improvement of Quality, Environment, Health, and Safety (QEHS) management systems, in compliance with Indian statutory requirements, company policies, and international standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
Duties and Responsibilities_:
Quality Management
- Ensure implementation and maintenance of ISO 9001, IATF 16949, VDA 6.3 and other applicable certifications and standards across production and laboratory operations.
- Coordinate with QC and production teams for process control and defect prevention.
- Co-ordinate RCA (Root Cause Analysis) and verify effectiveness of CAPA for customer complaints and internal quality issues.
- Support vendor quality evaluation and audit for chemical and packaging suppliers.
- Support new product development and ensuring compliance to customer specific requirements.
Environmental Management
- Implement ISO 14001(EMS) and ensure compliance with MPCB norms (air, water, and waste).
- Monitor and maintain environmental parameters—effluent, stack emissions, and hazardous waste disposal.
- Liaise with Pollution Control Board (MPCB) for environmental consent renewals and audits.
- Conduct risk assessments (ASPECT/IMPACT) and ensure implementation of control measures.
- Promote waste minimization, water conservation, and energy efficiency initiatives.
- Verify MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) for all chemicals and ensure correct labelling and storage.
- Coordinate safe handling and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste as per Hazardous Waste Management Rules.
Health & Safety Management
- Implement ISO 45001 / OHSAS 18001 systems for occupational health and safety.
- Conduct risk assessments (HAZOP, HIRA, JSA) and ensure implementation of control measures.
- Develop and deliver safety induction and refresher training for all employees and contractors.
- Ensure compliance with Factories Act, Explosives Act, and Petroleum Rules where applicable.
- Conduct incident investigations, record near misses, and implement preventive actions.
- Conduct regular mock drills (fire, chemical spill, emergency evacuation).
- Ensure periodic inspection and maintenance of fire extinguishers, safety showers, and emergency equipment.
System & Compliance
- Prepare, maintain, and update QEHS manuals, procedures, and SOPs.
- Coordinate internal and external audits (ISO, customer, and regulatory).
- Maintain QEHS KPIs (e.g., TRIR, LTIFR, incident frequency, waste generation, quality rejection rates, COPQ).
- Ensure appropriate documentation and reporting to management and regulatory bodies.
- Drive continual improvement through 5S, Kaizen, and Lean initiatives.
Qualifications/Experience/Education:
Education:
B.E./B.Tech or Diploma in Chemical / Environmental / Industrial Safety / Mechanical Engineering.
(Additional Diploma in Industrial Safety preferred — as per Factories Act, 1948).
Experience:
5-10 years in QEHS role within chemical, petrochemical, or process industries.
Certifications:
ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 Internal Auditor; HAZOP / HIRA / Six sigma certification preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
- In-depth knowledge of chemical process safety and regulatory compliance.
- Familiarity with Indian environmental and factory safety regulations.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
- Good communication and team coordination.
- Proficiency in MS Office, ERP systems, and incident reporting tools
