Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Quality Manager to lead a team of Quality Engineers, Leaders, and Technicians. This role involves providing strategic leadership and daily direction to achieve quality goals, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring excellence across the department. Key responsibilities include setting goals, monitoring progress, managing resources to meet quality metrics, collaborating with internal and external customers on quality and engineering matters, making recommendations for specification modifications, providing engineering support to operations, resolving quality issues, communicating quality improvement efforts, performing process stability and capability studies, participating in product quality planning, facilitating problem-solving techniques, assisting in customer PPM improvement plans, and supporting new product development with APQP processes. The role also involves maintaining and enhancing supplier quality, conducting supplier evaluations, implementing risk-based inspection strategies, and assisting in establishing a comprehensive Quality Assurance System.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or technical discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of quality experience
  • Knowledge of certified quality management systems (e.g. TS 16949, ISO)
  • Customer quality assurance experience
  • Previous audit experience
  • Ability to interpret technical instructions and deal with abstract variables
Good to have:
  • Technical knowledge of steel fabrication and assembly processes
  • Experience with part, sub-assembly, and final assembly audits
  • Project management experience
  • Certified Quality Engineer
  • Background in GD&T
  • Understanding of manufacturing and/or lean processes

Job Description:

We’re excited to be recruiting for a dynamic and passionate Quality Manager to lead a talented team of Quality Engineers, Quality Leaders, and Quality Technicians!

In this role, you’ll provide strategic leadership and day-to-day direction to help the team achieve both daily and monthly quality goals. It’s a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact while driving continuous improvement and excellence across the department. This position is located in Brillion, WI.

THE DAY TO DAY…

  • Live by and promote the Ariens Core Values and 15 Principles

  • Set goals, monitor progress, and ensure accountability for teams and individual members

  • Accountable for managing resources to ensure key quality department metrics are met

  • Collaborate with internal and external customers’ quality and engineering personnel to determine critical part features and review manufacturability of design

  • Make recommendations to modify customer part specifications and tolerances as necessary to support cost effective production

  • Provide engineering support to operations ensuring consistent application of quality techniques

  • Resolve quality issues by identifying problems, examining solution options, implementing action plans, and providing resources

  • Effectively communicate and reinforce company commitment to quality improvement efforts

  • Determine when process stability and capability studies should be performed on existing processes. Review and analyze results. Recommend changes to processes based upon findings and perform follow up to verify effectiveness

  • Participate and coordinate with other departments (i.e.: Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Purchasing, Tooling, Operations, etc.) product Quality planning activities to determine appropriate use of existing and new systems

  • Facilitate and promote use of appropriate problem-solving techniques for effective root cause analysis and successful corrective action

  • Participate directly in internal and external customer PPM improvement plan

  • Assist the Quality Director in the implementation of APQP processes to better new product development and product launces

  • Maintain and Enhance Ariens Co Supplier Quality Manual and Supplier Ratings systems with the Quality Director and Purchasing Teams

  • Assist the Purchasing team in the improvement of Ariens Co company supplier standards and drive their implementation into the supply base

  • Lead and or conduct on site supplier evaluations both before supplier selection and after.

  • Oversee the Implement risk-based inspection strategies, leveraging internal process and supplier histories and data analytics to optimize efficiency.

  • Assist the Quality Director in establishing APQP, Control Plans, DFMEA, PFMEA, SPC and Other standard Quality Assurance tools to create a comprehensive Ariens CO Quality Assurance System.

THE QUALIFICATIONS…

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations and/or technical discipline required

  • Minimum of 5 years’ quality experience required

  • Knowledge of certified quality management system (e.g. TS 16949, ISO)

  • Customer quality assurance experience

  • Previous audit experience

  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables

  • Technical knowledge of steel fabrication and assembly processes preferred

  • Formal training and previous experience with part, sub-assembly, and final assembly audits preferred

  • Project management experience preferred

  • Certified Quality Engineer preferred

  • Background in GD&T preferred

  • Understanding of manufacturing and/or lean processes is desired
