Job Description

As a Regulatory and Litigation Counsel at Google, you'll be part of an APAC-based team leading the strategy for defending the company against government and regulatory actions. Responsibilities include leading responses to inquiries, investigations, and litigation; leading information collection and production for external submissions; advising on audits and exams; and representing the company in engagements. The role requires at least 7 years of attorney-level experience and a strong understanding of APAC laws and regulations. Preferred qualifications include 10 years of experience in legal, regulatory, and litigation matters, with a focus on risk mitigation and compliance program development. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication, problem-solving, and time management skills and a commitment to integrity.
Must have:
  • JD, LL.B., or equivalent
  • 7+ years attorney experience
  • Admitted to the bar
  • Lead regulatory responses
  • Information collection & production
  • APAC legal expertise
Good to have:
  • 10+ years experience
  • Compliance program development
  • Experience with global data protection authorities
  • Engagement with regional regulators

Minimum qualifications:

  • JD, LL.B., equivalent degree, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law (e.g., have registered in-house status) in the state in which the position is located.
  • 7 years of attorney-level experience in government, in-house, or at a law firm.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 10 years of experience with legal, regulatory, and litigation matters, including addressing, minimizing and avoiding regulatory risk.
  • Experience developing, evaluating, and maintaining programs that ensure products comply with laws, regulations, and external commitments.
  • Experience and understanding of the legal, laws and regulations in APAC.
  • Experience engaging with regional regulators and global data protection or consumer protection authorities.
  • Excellent communication, time management, problem-solving skills, with the ability to seek to meet the standards of integrity.

  • Lead responses to regulatory inquiries, investigations, litigation, enforcement actions, and overlapping civil matters.
  • Lead the collection and production of accurate information in external submissions and disclosures.
  • Provide legal advice on government and regulatory audits and exams.
