Job Description

As Regulatory Counsel, Legislative at Google, you'll be a key player in navigating complex legal and regulatory landscapes. Responsibilities include leading responses to legislative inquiries and investigations, preparing for legislative testimony, and overseeing accurate information in external submissions. You'll work collaboratively with cross-functional teams across the company, advising on products and mitigating regulatory risks. The role requires significant experience (7+ years) in government, in-house, or law firm settings, with expertise in legal, regulatory, and legislative matters, particularly within APAC markets. You will need to possess a strong understanding of technology and public company governance, with the ability to navigate complex technical issues and engage with legislative bodies.

Must have:

JD/LLB or equivalent
7+ years attorney experience
Admitted to the bar
Legislative inquiry response
Legislative testimony prep
Information collection/production

Good to have:

APAC market experience
Tech company experience
Public company board experience
Project management skills

Minimum qualifications:

JD, LL.B., equivalent degree, or equivalent practical experience.
7 years of attorney-level experience in government, in-house, or at a law firm.
Admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law (e.g., have registered in-house status) in the state in which the position is located.

Preferred qualifications:

Experience with legal, regulatory, and legislative matters, including strategically addressing, minimizing and avoiding regulatory risk.
Experience engaging with legislative bodies, including congressional and parliamentary committees across the globe (particularly APAC markets).
Experience working with technology companies and ability to understand complex technical issues.
Experience with working with public company boards and their counsel, including special committees and audit committees.
Experience with managing projects and partnering effectively with cross-functional teams, with the ability to be action-oriented and to meet the highest standards of integrity.
