The Resident Engineer at Zscaler will assist clients in implementing and managing their Zscaler solution. Responsibilities include collaborating with the Professional Services team, integrating Zscaler solutions with customer cybersecurity teams, providing configuration guidance and best practices, troubleshooting, escalating issues, and providing regular status reports. The role requires responding to unplanned events, including after-hours support for critical issues, and occasional travel to customer locations. The ideal candidate will have 6+ years of experience as a Resident Engineer, Professional Services Consultant, or Support Engineer, familiarity with various protocols and security systems, experience with systems administration, and a strong understanding of network troubleshooting.
Must have:
  • 6+ years experience as Resident Engineer/Consultant
  • Familiarity with IPSEC, GRE, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS
  • Experience with systems installation and configuration
  • Network troubleshooting using Wireshark, tcpdump etc.
  • Active US SECRET clearance or higher
Good to have:
  • Experience with Air Force and DoD programs
  • Experience with Zscaler or similar Zero Trust solutions
  • Experience with cloud environments (Azure, AWS, GCP)
  • Industry certifications (CCNP, JNCIP, PCNSA, CISSP, CCSP)

We are looking for a Resident Engineer, reporting to the PS Manager, to assist their clients in implementing, setting up, and managing their Zscaler solution during the duration of the project.

Location: Must be on-site Hanscom AFB, MA

Responsibilities:

  • You will collaborate with and assist the larger Zscaler Professional Services team to ensure the continued success of your fellow team members, Zscaler, and our customers.
  • Integrate with Customer's cyber security/network security team(s) to help integrate Zscaler solutions into the customer's environment by providing configuration guidance, recommendations, best practices.
  • Assist customers with testing and troubleshooting. Escalate to Zscaler Support, Engineering, and Cloud Operations.
  • Provide regular status reports for critical incidents, projects, and proactive services to both the Customer and Zscaler teams.
  • Respond to unplanned events, including after hours for Severity 1 issues. This includes a willingness to work out of normal business hours without prior notice (upon customer demand).
  • On an as needed/pre-approved basis, travel to customer location(s) to assist with short-term customer goals.

What We're Looking for (Minimum Qualifications)

  • 6+ years of prior work experience as a Resident Engineer, Professional Services Consultant, or a Support Engineer
  • Familiarity with IPSEC, GRE, HTTP/HTTPS, and DNS protocols, Proxy, SSL, SSL Inspection, and authentication systems (SAML, LDAP, SCIM)
  • Experience with systems installation, configuration and administration of routers/switches, macOS, UNIX/Linux and Windows-based systems. Knowledge with network troubleshooting using tools (Wireshark, tcpdump, Traceroute, MTR)
  • Meets requirements of DoD 8570 IATII or 8140 Cyber Def Infra Support Specialist - Intermediate 
  • Active US SECRET clearance or higher

What Will Make You Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Experience with Air Force and DoD programs and acquisitions
  • Experience with Zscaler or similar Zero trust solutions, cloud environments (Azure, AWS, GCP), Hypervisors like VMware, Hyper-V, and KVM
  • Industry certifications (CCNP, JNCIP, PCNSA, CISSP, CCSP)

Zscaler’s salary ranges are benchmarked and are determined by role and level. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations and could be higher or lower based on a multitude of factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

The base salary range listed for this full-time position excludes commission/ bonus/ equity (if applicable) + benefits.

Base Pay Range
$136,500$195,000 USD
