As a Revenue Controller, you'll manage the Quote-to-Cash process for the US Public Sector business segment of Zscaler. This role involves pre-sales support, order processing, revenue recognition and reporting, and internal/external audit support. You'll also lead a specialized Order Processing team focused on Federal customer transactions. Key responsibilities include assisting the Sales team with complex transactions, maintaining connections with other Public Sector teams, and staying informed about market, system, and compliance changes.
Must have:
  • US Citizenship
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA certification
  • 10+ years experience in Revenue Recognition, Deal Desk, Sales Operations, or Orders Management
  • Demonstrated knowledge of SaaS GAAP revenue recognition
  • 5+ years management experience in Revenue Recognition
  • 3+ years experience with Federal and SLED government contracts
Good to have:
  • Experience at a public company with SEC reporting
  • Experience working with DoD or Intel customers and contracts
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems (SAP, NetSuite, Salesforce CPQ)

We are hiring a Revenue Controller for the Public Sector. You will manage the Quote-to-Cash process for the Finance team of the U.S. Public Sector business segment of the company. You will report to the Director, Revenue and over time manage a team.

This is a remote role in the US with preference for Washington, DC or San Jose, CA. If local to San Jose, CA, the role will be Hybrid (in office 3 days/week). In this role, you will:

  • Provide pre-sales support through customer order processing, provisioning of licenses, revenue recognition and reporting, billing and accounts receivable assistance, and internal and external audit support. This involves critical coordination with teams including Deal Desk, Sales & Sales Ops, Legal, Tax and Orders Processing to provide smooth management of Public Sector transactions.
  • Plan and provide best proposal responses and Order closures, partnering with Sales, Product Management, Legal, Tax, and Professional Services.
  • Directly lead a newly created, specialized Order Processing team focused on processing Federal customer transactions and handling all provisioning actions for those accounts.
  • Assist Sales team and Deal Desk in building quotes for complex transactions with billing or revenue recognition impacts, or outside of standard corporate guidelines.
  • Maintain connections with other Public Sector teams and keep the Finance staff informed of changes in market, systems, or compliance requirements.

What We're Looking for (Minimum Qualifications)

  • US Citizenship mandatory.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance or an MBA and CPA certification required.
  • 10+ years of work experience in Revenue Recognition, Deal Desk, Sales Operations, or Orders Management, working in Medium-to-large SaaS companies with demonstrated knowledge of SaaS-related GAAP revenue recognition (ASC 606), forecasting, modeling, and analysis .
  • 5 years+ management experience in a Revenue Recognition role, working with Sales on complex quotes and order booking.
  • 3+ years of experience with Federal and SLED government contracts, including an understanding of different contract vehicles such as: GSA, NASPO, SEWP.

What Will Make You Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Experience at a public company with SEC reporting.
  • Experience working with DoD or Intel customers and contracts.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems, such as SAP, NetSuite, Salesforce CPQ or other similar quoting tools.

The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations and could be higher or lower based on a multitude of factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

The base salary range listed for this full-time position excludes commission/ bonus/ equity (if applicable) + benefits.

Base Pay Range
$147,000$210,000 USD
