2D Layout Artist

We are now on the hunt for mid-senior level 2D Layout Artists  to work on exciting new shows happening: Rick and Morty + a Top Secret Series (also 16+). We are looking for people who will join us in our quest to create the best possible animated content for our partners. The artists will be required from May 2025 and will end September 2025. 

The roles relate to shows that have been classified 16+ and while the subject matter of the shows are presented in a fantasy or comic context, the production may contain contextually justified strong language, references to sex, drugs, horror, threat, and/or violence of a non-gratuitous nature, which some applicants may find objectionable.  Lighthouse will always seek to reasonably accommodate those applicants with conscientious or other objections, however given the nature of both the role and subject matter, this may not always be possible. PLEASE NOTE: This role is based in our studio in Kilkenny, Ireland, and there is no option to work freelance. 

About the role

The role of the 2D Layout artist is to create layouts in Photoshop for the production, according to a weekly quota as agreed with the layout supervisor.

What you'll be doing

• Ensuring hook ups, size relations, staging, reuses etc., based on the storyboard and scene illustrations/reference provided are all accurately accounted for
• Refining the design of the shots based on references provided
• Suggesting ways to simplify shots or make the shots easier for other departments
• Suggesting possible background reuses that must be indicated (full/partial reuse)
• Separating, organising, and assigning all elements to a department:
  (BG/ 2D Anim/ 2D FX/ compositing FX/ 3D Anim/ library crowd characters) 
• Indicating light direction (and wind direction if needed)
• Checking timing for camera moves
• Meeting all deadlines as established by production management
  

The above is not exhaustive and from time to time you may be asked to carry out other tasks

What we're looking for

• 3+ years of industry experience as a 2D Mid-Senior Layout artist
• Experience with Adobe photoshop
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work
• Attention to detail and ability to find solutions
• Experience with Shotgrid is considered a plus
