As a Security Engineering Intern at Google, you'll be working on the front lines of cybersecurity, helping to protect our systems and data from malicious attacks. You'll work closely with our team of security engineers to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities, develop security tools and scripts, and analyze security incidents. This is a fast-paced and challenging role that will give you hands-on experience with real-world security problems and technologies. You'll also have the opportunity to learn from some of the best security engineers in the industry.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related technical field.
  • Coding experience with Python, Go, C++, JavaScript.
  • Experience in network protocols, secure network design, web application/browser security, authentication control, applied cryptography/security protocols, intrusion detection.
Good to have:
  • Currently attending a degree program in the US and available to work full time for 12 weeks outside of university term time.
  • In their penultimate academic year or returning to a degree program after completion of the internship.
  • Understanding of technical privacy issues and experience with the software development lifecycle.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Minimum qualifications:

About the job

As a Security Engineer Intern, you help protect network boundaries, keep computer systems and network devices hardened against attacks and provide security services to protect highly sensitive data like passwords and customer information. Security Engineers work with a broad range of devices, actively monitoring our systems for attacks and intrusions. We focus on the offensive/testing side and work with software engineers to proactively identify and fix security flaws and vulnerabilities. We also build tools, scripts and other automation to help our project teams achieve Google-scale impact.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $89,000-$118,000. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
