Job Description

The Security Operations Engineer role at Flexera involves detecting and responding to security incidents, analyzing alerts, and collaborating with stakeholders. Responsibilities include developing incident response procedures, conducting post-incident analysis, and staying updated on security threats. The role requires experience in security disciplines, incident detection, SIEM tools, and multi-cloud architectures. Good To Have:
  • Scripting/coding experience (Bash/PowerShell, Python).
  • Proficiency in using SIEM tools.
  • Understanding of multi-cloud architectures and security best practices.
  • Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., NIST, CIS).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of Internet security issues and threat landscape.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (especially AWS).
  • Strong knowledge of web protocols and common attacks.
  • In-depth knowledge of Linux/Unix tools and architecture.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, GIAC).
Must Have:
  • 3+ years of equivalent technology experience.
  • Experience in systems, network, and/or application security.
  • Experience in security incident detection and response.

Security Operations Engineer

Basic Qualifications

  • BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or 3+ years’ equivalent technology experience.
  • Understanding of best practices across multiple security disciplines/domains.
  • 2+ years or more of proven experience with a focus in areas such as systems, network, and/or application security.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years or more of proven experience with a focus in areas such as systems, network, and/or application security.
  • 1+ years of scripting/coding experience in any language (including Bash/PowerShell scripting). Previous experience in Python scripting would be ideal.
  • Proven experience in security incident detection and response.
  • Proficiency in using security information and event management (SIEM) tools.
  • Solid understanding of multi-cloud architectures, services, and security best practices.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and frameworks (e.g., NIST, CIS).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Knowledge of Internet security issues, cloud architectures, best practices and threat landscape.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies, especially with AWS services.
  • Strong proven knowledge of web protocols, common attacks, and an in-depth knowledge of Linux/Unix tools and architecture.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, GIAC, Certified Incident Handler) are a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Detect and respond to security incidents, breaches, and vulnerabilities.
  • Analyze and investigate security alerts and events.
  • Develop and maintain incident response procedures and playbooks.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to manage and mitigate security incidents.
  • Participate in incident response drills and exercises.
  • Conduct post-incident analysis and recommend improvements to prevent future incidents.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest security threats, vulnerabilities, and best practices.
