Job Description

The Senior Accountant will be actively involved in the monthly close process, preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and workpapers, particularly focusing on Investments, Stock-based Compensation, Employee Related Accruals, and Inventory. The role involves identifying opportunities to automate and streamline the monthly close process, conducting variance analysis, and collaborating with internal teams to ensure data accuracy. The Senior Accountant will also assist with annual audits and tax compliance, document internal controls, and drive automation within the Accounting Team. The ideal candidate should be a positive, driven self-starter who enjoys working in a dynamic environment and contributing to strategic initiatives and projects. The company is experiencing rapid growth within the healthcare technology industry.
Must have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum of 4 years related accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of GAAP accounting principles
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
Good to have:
  • CPA designation preferred
  • Prior public accounting experience
  • Experience with enterprise software (e.g., NetSuite)

Responsibilities:

Specifically, you will:

  • Actively involved in the monthly close process, owning the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations and workpapers.
  • Focus areas to include Investments, Stock-based Compensation, Employee Related Accruals and Inventory.
  • Identify opportunities to automate, streamline, and improve the accuracy and timeliness of monthly close; uses ERP system effectively, with a keen eye on improving processes.
  • Conduct fluctuation and variance analysis and provide insightful explanations to help facilitate accurate monthly financial results.
  • Work closely with various internal teams to ensure the completeness and accuracy of data used for accounting purposes.
  • Assist with annual audits and tax compliance data preparation.
  • Document internal controls and current processes to ensure repeatability.
  • Actively participate in process improvement efforts and drive automation of routine processes within the Accounting Team.
  • Positive, driven and accurate self-starter who enjoys working in a dynamic environment.
  • Perform strategic initiatives and projects to support the growth and scalability of the company and assist with other accounting initiatives and ad hoc projects as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA designation (or working towards a CPA) strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years related accounting experience working in an accounting function; prior public accounting experience
  • Big 4 experience in audit or tax and industry experience strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of GAAP accounting principles, financial analysis, and reporting
  • Strong proficiency with tools such as Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Experience with enterprise software (e.g., NetSuite, Oracle, Workday) preferred
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in performing all essential duties and strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, including time management and prioritization abilities to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure
  • Positive attitude, flexible, and pro-active, willing to jump in wherever needed
