Job Description

Gunzilla Games seeks a Senior Biome Artist to create immersive, realistic biomes for their AAA Extraction Battle Royale shooter, Off The Grid. Responsibilities include creating natural environment biomes using existing or new assets, collaborating with designers and artists, scoping work for on-time delivery, and taking ownership of biome content (landscapes, foliage, etc.). The role requires strong 3D and 2D skills in software like 3ds Max, Photoshop, and Substance, experience with biome generation tools, PBR workflow, and the ability to work collaboratively under deadlines. The artist will also participate in R&D of new techniques and optimize assets for target platforms.
Must have:
  • 3+ years Biome/Vegetation artist experience
  • Shipped AAA title experience

Founded in 2020, Gunzilla Games is the independent AAA video game developer and publisher behind the free-to-play mobile game TECHNOCORE, the gamer-first blockchain GUNZ, and the upcoming next-gen battle royale Off The Grid, in three metropolitan locations: Frankfurt, Germany (HQ); Kyiv, Ukraine; and London, UK. ABOUT THE JOB

Gunzilla Games is looking to recruit a talented Senior Biome Artist to create immersive realistic biomes through vegetation assets for our game OTG (Off The Grid), an all-new AAA Extraction Battle Royale shooter, currently available as Early Access on PlayStation®5, Xbox® Series X|S, and PC.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As the Biome Artist you will:

  • Creating natural environment biomes using existing assets or making new ones
  • Work actively with designers and concept, Environment & Technical artists to work collaboratively to create outstanding environments that fit the game's style and realism
  • Helping scope work for on-time milestone delivery
  • Taking ownership of Biome content including the creation of landscape materials, foliage assets, and other related resources, materials or assets that enrich the character of biomes.
  • Share knowledge of project tools and their functions
  • Work closely with peers and other departments such as programming to ensure art assets are fully optimized for target platforms while minimizing any impact on artistic integrity
  • Participate in R&D of new techniques to implement into the production pipeline

REQUIREMENTS

  • 3+ years of experience as a Biome or Vegetation artist with experience in creating vegetation assets like trees, bushes, and grass in a real-world setting
  • Have worked as a Biome or Vegetation artist on at least 1 Shipped AAA title
  • Strong 3D & 2D art skills with knowledge in 3ds Max, Photoshop, and Substance packages, especially node-based art creation in unreal and substance designer
  • Experience using Zbrush or an equivalent sculpting software
  • Experience with Biome Generation tools, rulesets and ability to shape natural feeling & Diverse environments
  • Creative & artistic eye for Biome composition especially lighting/shading & Materials
  • Possess a good knowledge of PBR workflow and shader techniques
  • A proactive, can-do attitude, with an eagerness to learn new software tools and technologies
  • Ability to work in a team setting, under deadlines and time constraints
  • Ability to work with a high degree of self-direction and motivation
