What we are looking for:

Join KRAFTON Americas Creative Department as a Senior Cinematic Artist, where you'll spearhead the creation of cinematic content using Unreal Engine for our various titles. In this role, you'll construct large-scale, high-quality scenes optimized for real-time cinematic production. We're looking for someone who can emulate the expertise of Roger Deakins in the Unreal environment—blending cinematic artistry with technical prowess.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cinematic Scene Assembly: Build and manage intricate scenes for real-time cinematic use in Unreal Engine, focusing on photorealism and stylistic variety.
  • Advanced Material and Lighting: Craft detailed materials and lighting setups to enhance visual storytelling and thematic depth.
  • Visual Effects and Animation: Implement a wide range of visual effects and basic animations to enhance the cinematic quality of scenes.
  • Content Optimization: Work collaboratively to optimize cinematic content for various platforms, ensuring high performance and visual fidelity.
  • Cinematic Direction: Operate cameras within Unreal Engineʼs Sequencer, employing expert camera animation techniques to create compelling narratives. 

What We're Looking For

  • Diverse Portfolio: Demonstrates a range of styles, creativity, and a structured design approach in cinematic content creation within Unreal Engine.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of Unreal Engine 5, including shading, lighting techniques, surfacing, cinematic tools, and real-time VFX.
  • Cinematic Flair: Expert understanding of composition, color theory, perspective, lighting, and graphical design principles related to cinematic production.
  • Passion for Cinema: A deep appreciation for cinema and video games, understanding how the craft of filmmaking integrates with game development.
  • Rockstar Qualities: Experience with Adobe After Effects, Premiere, and hands-on experience in the game industry or post-production are major pluses. 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Collaborative Creation: Work closely with production teams and studio partners to create stunning game trailers and support video creation in various styles.
  • Feedback Implementation: Coordinate with the Art Director and Cinematic Team Lead, implementing feedback meticulously to refine and optimize production pipelines.
  • Mentorship: Guide junior team members, sharing knowledge and techniques to enhance their professional growth within the cinematic domain. 

Required Qualifications 

  • Experience: 5+ years as a Cinematic Artist in the gaming industry, specifically with a focus on cinematic production using Unreal Engine.
  • Technical Skills: Mastery of shader languages like HLSL, GLSL, with substantial experience in shader and material development for cinematic content.
  • Artistic Proficiency: Proven ability to create photorealistic and stylized art, showcasing a comprehensive understanding of the artistic and technical aspects of cinematic production.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, capable of bridging the gap between art and engineering teams effectively, with a love for mentorship. 
  • .Engine Proficiency: Extensive experience with Unreal Engine, especially in crafting real-time, cinematic content.

In California, the expected salary range for this position is $115,000-$140,000. The listed expected salary range represents a good faith estimate and the actual pay may depend on a variety of job-related factors that can include experience, education, skills, and location.
