Understand the Customer and Market: Conduct thorough market analysis to understand customer needs, competitive landscape, and industry trends. Stay informed about product capabilities, legal requirements, and financial system constraints to ensure compliance and strategic alignment.
Define Strategic Priorities: Collaborate closely with customers to gather insights and feedback, using this information to define strategic priorities that will inform and shape the product roadmap. Ensure that customer needs are at the forefront of all strategic decisions.
Partner and Collaborate: Build and maintain strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, including product teams, legal, finance, and other key departments. Foster a collaborative environment to drive cross-functional initiatives and achieve business objectives.
Operational Execution: Ensure end-to-end execution across functions is customer-centric, including sales, marketing, pricing, finance, product, integration, partnerships, and customer support. Drive operational excellence to deliver seamless customer experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
Growth & Strategic Outcomes:
Design and define the SMB (Small and Medium Business) strategy for an identified country, supporting the execution of local SMB priorities, and analyzing and interpreting SMB performance.
Implement hands-on execution coordination of local and global cross functional initiatives.
Manage process escalations to remove obstacles for the strategy execution while proposing and supporting change implementation to strategy.
Collaborate and define priorities based on global commercial SMB strategy.
Research new opportunities with an emphasis on driving growth and strategic outcomes by increasing new merchant acquisition, activation, and adoption of PayPal products through merchant journey and lifecycle.
Engage with ongoing cross-functional partners regularly, improving relationships and operational efficiencies.
Direct, set, and define customized market/regional specific product and technology strategies.
Manage stakeholder relationships and oversee the delivery of key product and platform infrastructures.
Set strategic direction and roadmap to enhance product experience and business metrics
Product Discovery & Sales Enablement:
Enhance intuitive discovery of relevant products and services through organic in-product and marketing experiences.
Enable direct sales and partner distribution channels to leverage in-product marketing and experiences to increase Products Per Merchant.
Partner cross functionally to define and implement cross-sell and upsell strategies, sales campaigns, experiments, promotions, placements, and experiences to drive adoption.
Maximize existing merchant utilization of products per merchant through cross-functional collaboration with marketing, product experiences, servicing, and other channels.
Merchant Experience Optimization:
Identify and drive optimizations to provide merchants with more guided, personalized, and intuitive experiences.
Leverage marketing and in-product experiences, and other unassisted channels to drive merchant sign-up, activation, promotion, cross-sell, upsell, merchant migration, pilot enrollment, early opt-in registration, and engagement/retention through the merchant lifecycle.
Align cross-functionally to define business priorities for decision-based frameworks and rules engines.
Ensure organic experiences are generated in alignment with SMBs' jobs to be done and outcomes.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 12 years of relevant work experience and a Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, or related field.
Proven experience in commercial management or a similar role, preferably within the payments industry.
Strong understanding of market dynamics, customer needs, and competitive landscape, leveraging machine learning or AI to drive business outcomes is a plus.
Excellent strategic thinking and analytical skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience in financial management and P&L optimization.

The US national annual pay range for this role is $123,500 to $212,850For the majority of employees, PayPal's balanced hybrid work model offers 3 days in the office for effective in-person collaboration and 2 days at your choice of either the PayPal office or your home workspace, ensuring that you equally have the benefits and conveniences of both locations.
