Job Description

The Senior Copywriter, Freelance at Hogarth is responsible for concepting and crafting engaging copy that meets client brief requirements for consumer or business audiences. This role involves taking briefs, conducting research, and creating integrated communications across various channels like headlines, emails, social content, landing pages, and editorial. The ideal candidate will have experience with both long and short-form communications, understand audience segmentation, and adapt their style to fit brand voice while working in a fast-paced environment.

What does a Senior Copywriter, Freelance do at Hogarth?

The Senior Copywriter, Freelance will be responsible for concepting and crafting engaging copy that meets all client brief requirements – whether the work is crafted for consumer or other business audiences. This role requires the ability to take a brief, do your own research when needed and create integrated communications (headlines, emails, social content, social post copy, landing pages, editorial and more) over a mix of brand and tactical projects while maintaining the high-quality standards of Hogarth. Experience with both long and short form communications is required.

An understanding of how to create communications targeted for different segment audiences and how it’s adapted across platforms is necessary. The ideal candidate must be curious and adaptable; they must be able to familiarize themselves with the most current creative campaigns in market and then tailor their style to fit the overall brand voice. In addition, they will have outstanding communication skills with demonstrated interpersonal and organization abilities and must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to brand tone of voice with understanding of variations for different products within the business
  • Ensure copy is on point for segment audiences and brand continuity is maintained
  • Create and write engaging copy for new campaign initiatives across digital, print, and social media, as well as for presentations, scripts, and storyboards for video projects
  • Think conceptually to come up with creative executions for integrated campaigns (specifically concepting for digital, social and OLV)
  • Sit in on creative briefs to ensure they are complete and clear on what is expected before beginning production
  • Collaborate with various client team members and partner agencies to deliver projects on brand and to spec
  • Utilize process workflows and manage assets to meet deadlines
  • Provide strategy and direction to team members, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment
  • Champion proactive brainstorming sessions to generate fresh ideas and creative solutions
  • Leverage experience in managing and mentoring other writers to elevate the team's output
  • Ensure conceptual skills are sharp, consistently translating ideas into compelling narratives
  • Maintain a strategic approach to all projects, aligning creative direction with overarching business goals
  • Effectively communicate and walk through projects with senior-level stakeholders, ensuring alignment

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience
  • 5+ years of experience working as a copywriter in an agency setting with a significant portion gained within or for large-scale professional services firms, global consultancies, financial institutions, or similarly complex B2B environments
  • Able to manage multiple projects with guidance from creative leads
  • Team player able to collaborate with creative and brand leads across multiple projects

Individual compensation varies based on job-related factors, including location, business needs, level of responsibility, experience, and qualifications.
