This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly creative Customer Marketing and Media team, that’s responsible for leveraging the richness of the Mattel portfolio via innovative demand creation across the full omnichannel marketing funnel to drive purchase intent. Our mission is to drive retail sales via exciting new media activations and merchandising initiatives (on and offline), whilst keeping play at the heart of what we do.

Job Description

The Opportunity

The Senior Customer Marketing Associate reports into the Customer Marketing and Media Lead and works in partnership with sales, brand and consumer products, collaborating as one team to support each other to achieve our aligned goals and vision. Using shopper insights and campaign analysis, you will be responsible for executing “best-in-class” retail marketing and media campaigns that offer our retail partners distinct points of difference to increase conversion rates at the point of purchase across Benelux and Nordics. The position will ensure effective, creative, and efficient implementation of campaigns by working with agencies and visual merchandising teams.  Furthermore, the role will act as a Marketing interface with external customers.

This position is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to activate exciting brands across all consumer-facing touchpoints. The role is based in our Mattel office in the Netherlands, together with the rest of the marketing team.

What Your Impact Will Be:

  • Support the Customer Marketing and Media Lead with the development and management of key retail campaigns to drive sales towards achieving and exceeding Benelux & Nordics revenue targets.
  • Collaborate closely with the brand management and sales teams for effective brand activation, maximizing the return on investment for all activities.
  • Build relationships with key retailers and build joint omnichannel marketing plans together.
  • Develop marketing programs and work on the execution with creative agencies, visual merchandising partners, and retailers, covering permanent and temporary merchandising strategies, tentpoles and promotions, POP, etc.
  • Maximize retailer digital capabilities to drive Mattel’s share of voice through Mattel specific promotional and brand campaigns. Drive onsite search and manage web trading banners, brand stores and social activity, from briefing through to implementation.
  • Work in close cooperation with media specialists and build, execute, and optimize retail media campaigns.
  • Monitor results and measure the effectiveness of plans and initiatives, taking corrective actions if necessary.
  • Coordinate joint pitches with brand and consumer products teams for full franchise retail programs.
  • Plan, track, and evaluate marketing budgets for trade and e-retail activations.
  • Work in collaboration with other countries’ customer marketing teams, get constant insights in implementation results, and share results with other countries within the region.
  • Work effectively within a matrix organization and a virtual team.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

  • Degree in Marketing, Sales, Business Administration (Bachelor/Master/Diploma) or equivalent qualification.
  • A minimum of 3+ years’ experience in Customer Marketing, Marketing, or Media roles in Toys, FMCG, Entertainment, or licensed consumer goods.
  • A good understanding of retail/shopper marketing and media with experience in campaign management and trade marketing, preferably with an Omnichannel lens
  • Fluency in spoken and written English with excellent communication skills. Dutch, French, Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, or Finnish is a bonus.
  • Someone who’s consumer-centric and sees the importance in both brand and sales, with a strong understanding of the Benelux & Nordics retail environment.
  • A passion for all things retail, creative flare and desire to make shopper impact to drive growth opportunities across an omnichannel landscape.
  • Result orientated, winning mentality, competitive spirit, strong will to succeed with good strategic thinking and tactical skills.
  • Proactive problem solver with a creative and analytical mind-set and a tenacious attitude with a bias for action.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with wide variety of projects and aggressive deadlines and can react to change, prioritize and multi-task accordingly.
  • Solid financial acumen and good commercial understanding, with a proven ability to deliver ROI aligned to brand objectives.
  • A team player is essential, cross departmental collaboration is integral to the role - must have the ability to work with multiple stakeholders at any one time and be agile
  • Can build and maintain strong and collaborative relationships with a large number of stakeholders
  • The ability to influence effectively at different levels within the organization. Strong presentation and negotiation skills.
