Senior Data Engineer

The opportunity

Unity Ads Data Engineering team is looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer with a strong background in Data Engineering and a passion for working on cutting edge technology. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and development of data pipelines and services to enable data-driven insights and power BI, ML, experimentation and user-facing features. You will be exposed to multiple cloud platforms and data pipelines that process >7 billion events per day. What you'll be doing

• Design and engineer data pipelines using technologies like Spark, Python, Airflow, Snowflake, BigQuery, DBT, and Druid.
• Work with ML engineers, data scientists, and analysts to understand and translate business needs into actionable data solutions that drive insights and reporting.
• Develop analytics products and data solutions to support both internal and external customers.
• Ensure best practices for data infrastructure, storage, and processing in a high-volume, petabyte-scale environment.
• Architect cloud-based data solutions using platforms like GCP, AWS, and Snowflake, while implementing data governance strategies to ensure quality, consistency, and security.

What we're looking for

• Extensive experience of building scalable and efficient data pipelines.
• Skilled in SQL and programming languages like Python, Scala, or Java.
• Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Flink, Spark) and cloud platforms (e.g., GCP preferred, AWS).
• In-depth understanding of ETL/ELT, data modeling, and data patterns like SCD, CDC, snapshots, and partitioning.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, data architectural knowledge, and ability to navigate ambiguity in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

You might also have

• Knowledge of Kafka or similar pub-sub technology.
• Experience in AdTech is a plus, but not required.
