Toast is driven by building the restaurant platform that helps restaurants adapt, take control, and get back to what they do best: building the businesses they love. We're looking for a strategic, data-driven Senior Designer to accelerate our retail growth by optimizing the user experience across our marketing web ecosystem.

As a Senior Designer on the Web Experience Design team, you will be the design lead for retail-focused initiatives that drive business impact through compelling user experiences. You'll partner closely with Web Strategy, Web Engineering, and Marketing stakeholders to create web experiences that inspire retail prospects, inform their decision-making, and convert them into Toast customers. This role is critical to supporting Toast's vertical expansion//new market strategy.

About this roll\* (Responsibilities)

• Create high-fidelity designs that translate complex retail positioning into clear, compelling user experiences.
• Collaborate with organic and paid marketing teams to create design solutions that support keyword strategies, campaign optimization, and category expansion testing.
• Lead CRO design efforts for retail-focused web experiences, including site audits, user journey studies, landing page optimization, and A/B testing across Toast's highest-trafficked marketing pages.
• Leverage data, user research, and site analytics to inform design decisions supporting a site testing strategy — developing hypotheses, creating test variations, and analyzing results to continuously improve conversion rates and deliver measurable business impact.
• Collaborate on site information architecture strategy to improve user experience and performance, including navigation design, content hierarchy optimization, and structural improvements that support both current retail initiatives and future market expansion.
• Work closely with Web Engineering to ensure seamless implementation of designs.
• Clearly communicate design concepts, testing results, and strategic recommendations to stakeholders across multiple levels of the organization.
• Elevate and influence the Toast brand through thoughtful application and evolution of brand systems, ensuring design quality and consistency across web experiences.
• Lead design initiatives for new market and regional launches as Toast continues its global expansion, with opportunities to drive localization and multi-language user experience strategies, shape design approaches for broader TAM expansion beyond retail, and become a strategic design leader for Toast's international growth.

Do you have the right ingredients\*? (Requirements)

• 8+ years of relevant web design experience
• Strong communication and storytelling skills—able to present ideas and strategies to stakeholders and influence outcomes.
• A strong portfolio showcasing mastery of UI and UX principles spanning design systems and modular design, user research, information architecture, interaction design, accessibility, and more.
• Deep understanding of designing within real-world technical constraints, CMS workflows (experience with Contentful a plus), SEO considerations, and analytics frameworks.
• Ability to think strategically about the full user journey and the role of web experience within the broader marketing and brand ecosystem.
• Track record of delivering high-quality, scalable design solutions that balance brand, user experience, and business goals.
• Strong conceptual thinking paired with exceptional design craft.
• Excellent project management skills and ability to balance creative vision with business needs.

• Excel in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
• Have experience designing for SaaS platforms and/or B2B audiences.
• Have worked on multi-language and multi-geo web properties and understand the nuances of localization.

The base salary range for this role is listed below. The starting salary will be determined based on skills and experience. In addition to base salary, our total rewards components include cash compensation (overtime, bonus/commissions, if eligible), benefits, and equity (if eligible).

Pay Range

$98,000—$157,000 USD
