The Senior Director, People - India will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive People strategies aligned with global objectives and local business needs in India. This crucial role involves leading the People Business Partners and People Operations team, coaching leaders, collaborating on effective people strategies, and overseeing all aspects of People Operations in India. The role demands strong leadership, expertise in Indian labor laws, and the ability to bridge global strategies with local execution. Responsibilities include driving initiatives to support business goals, fostering a positive work environment, implementing People processes, navigating employee relations, and championing a culture of belonging. The successful candidate will also act as a local leader for Talent Acquisition, Leadership & Learning, and Workplace, Community, and Experience functions, ensuring alignment with global initiatives.

About the Role:

The Senior Director, People - India will play a crucial role in shaping and executing People strategies that align with our global business objectives. You will be intimately involved in translating our global strategy into a local context that resonates with our India team, fostering a workplace that values each individual's contributions. Your role will involve establishing and maintaining a robust leadership presence, driving initiatives that support the company's strategic goals, and advocating for the needs of the India organization within the global framework. By driving people retention programs, leading innovative initiatives, and coaching leaders across the company, you will have a tangible impact on how we work and grow. 

What You’ll Do:

Strategic Leadership & Partnerships

  • Develop and execute comprehensive People strategies that align with global objectives and local business needs.
  • Lead and guide the People Business Partners and People Operations team members in India.
  • Coach and mentor local leaders, advising on organizational design and resource planning as we continue to scale.
  • Collaborate with leaders to develop and implement effective people strategies that support our business goals, and also foster a positive and productive work environment.
  • Guide senior leaders through our People Programs, including our Annual Compensation Review and our Annual Growth Review processes.

HR Operational Excellence

  • Oversee all aspects of People Operations in India while partnering with the relevant global functional leads, including Compliance & Operations, Benefits & Wellness, to ensure best practices that support employee health and productivity.
  • Recommend People solutions, drive initiatives, and implement new processes or tools aligned with business priorities, project operations, and overall team engagement. 
  • Utilize insights and information to track progress, measure results, evaluate, and recommend changes surrounding performance management, employee/manager development, and retention.
  • Implement and refine People processes to enhance efficiency and meet the needs of a scaling organization, ensuring adherence to India labour laws and regulatory compliances.
  • Navigate complex employee relations issues as needed.

Global and Local Integration

  • Act as a bridge between global strategies and local execution, ensuring cohesive and effective execution across functions.
  • Collaborate with US and other international teams to align on global People Team initiatives and adapt them to fit local contexts.
  • Serve as the local leader for Talent Acquisition, Leadership & Learning, and Workplace, Community, and Experience functions, partnering with the global functional leads to ensure local alignment.
  • Remove roadblocks and create a collaborative and productive environment for local team members.

Business Continuity and Country Leadership

  • Lead the India organization to operationalize the global business strategies by developing and maintaining the operational infrastructure to enable each local functional team to meet its strategic performance objectives. 
  • Balance the diverse needs and demands of each function and location hub, manage local budgets efficiently and effectively, identify opportunities for internal collaboration, and navigate through the complexities specific to the local environment on behalf of the business. 
  • Ensure local India infrastructure supports the scale; pace of growth; and local compliance obligations needed for a hyper-growth company preparing for IPO readiness. 

Cultural Leadership

  • Champion a collaborative and inclusive ‘culture of belonging’, removing barriers and fostering open communication across departments.
  • Drive diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, ensuring they are tailored to local nuances and effectively implemented.
