Job Description

Reporting to the Director, Cyber Security, the Senior Engineer, Cyber Security Operations will be the first line of defense, modeling and leading the security team’s efforts to preserve the confidentiality, integrity and availability of Cineplex’s data, systems and services. This role will involve working closely with Director of Cyber Security to lead the daily cyber incident response function, as well as overseeing threat management and risk management activities.

Must Have:
  • Proactively identify and address false positive alerts within the SOC environment.
  • Serve as a SME on threat Intelligence and conduct research on emerging threats.
  • Lead efforts to fine-tune and optimize SIEM tools and other security technologies.
  • Manage the Vulnerability Management Program, EDR and Advanced Threat Protection.
  • Manage the operational components of application security (SAST, DAST, WAF Technologies).
  • Contribute to maintaining Cineplex’s security, privacy and crisis management policies.
  • Over 8 years in IT security with strong background in systems and network administration.
  • Expertise in Windows, Linux, and virtualization technologies.
  • Strong technical foundation in Windows Clients and Servers, Linux environments, SQL, and firewall rules hygiene.
  • Ability to take initiative and work proactively with minimal supervision.

What you will do:

Reporting to the Director, Cyber Security, the Senior Engineer, Cyber Security Operations will be the first line of defense, modeling and leading the security team’s efforts to preserve the confidentiality, integrity and availability of Cineplex’s data, systems and services. This role will involve working closely with Director of Cyber Security to lead the daily cyber incident response function, as well as overseeing threat management and risk management activities.

This is a hybrid role (3 days per week), based out of the Cineplex Head Office at 1303 Yonge St, Toronto.

Responsibilities:

  • Proactively identify and address false positive alerts within the SOC environment, ensuring that alert noise is minimized without compromising detection accuracy
  • Serve as a SME on threat Intelligence and conduct research on emerging threats and identify and deploy solutions to prevent such threats occurring
  • Lead efforts to fine-tune and optimize SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) tools and other security technologies (endpoint detection, threat intelligence platforms, etc.) to improve detection effectiveness.
  • Manage the Vulnerability Management Program, EDR and Advanced Threat Protection
  • Manage the operational components of application security e.g. SAST, DAST and WAF Technologies
  • Contribute to maintaining Cineplex’s security, privacy and crisis management policies

Key qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • A combination of relevant education and experience, demonstrated by over 8 years in IT security along with a strong background in systems and network administration, including expertise in Windows, Linux, and virtualization technologies is required
  • Extensive experience in IT security roles and understand the evolving landscape of cyber threats.
  • Strong technical foundation, including expertise in Systems and Network Administration, Windows Clients and Servers, Linux environments (ESX VMWare, MS Virtual Servers), SQL, and firewall rules hygiene.
  • Acted as an Information Security Advisor, helping teams navigate security challenges.
  • Ability to take initiative and work proactively with minimal supervision.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills and a professional attitude.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset.
