About the team:

The “Automation Testing” team at Postman is responsible for a set of products designed to help users test their APIs, manually and otherwise. This means there are a wide range of problems to solve – from a globally distributed system capable of executing hundreds of thousands of collections, to a browser-based client capable of running hours-long jobs, to CLI tools used to test production-grade APIs.

Engineers on the team are encouraged to operate across the stack instead of siloing themselves into “frontend-only” or “backend-only” modes of operation. Folks do tend to specialize in whatever they find interesting, but are perfectly capable of building quality products by themselves as well. Everyone is expected to understand that, while part of the job is to write code, their actual responsibility is to build a great product and experience. This entails working hand-in-hand with everyone outside of Engineering, taking ownership of the product and experience as a whole.

What you'll be doing:

  • Own the team-level architecture and work across teams to improve the performance and stability of the features.

  • Lead technical initiatives to solve problems across teams and be responsible for the adoption and success of the initiatives by working closely with other teams.

  • Contribute to features the Automation testing team owns, including Postman monitors, Scheduled runs, Collection runner, Newman and Postman CLI.

  • Advocate for best practices that improve the productivity and quality of the team.

  • Mentor early-career and experienced Engineers to bring out the best in them and help them learn and succeed at Postman.

About You:

  • 5+ years of experience in developing complex, distributed software applications.

  • Proficient with Javascript, node.js, React.Js, and a strong understanding of web fundamentals.

  • Strong knowledge of Database fundamentals, especially on the performance aspects such as optimizing queries, schema design, indexing, and caching.

  • Proven record of building & products from scratch.

  • Has a point of view and prior experience collaborating and respectfully challenging other stakeholders, such as PM, EM etc.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • You enjoy learning and sharing knowledge within and across teams.

  • You have a product-oriented mindset and empathy for the users.

  • Experience and excitement towards working with global, distributed teams.

  • Alignment with our Values.

  • An innate curiosity about how things work.

  • Lots of smiles
