Job Description

The Senior Engineer, Windows role involves supporting Microsoft Windows server platforms (2008/2012/2016 & 2019), managing HA infrastructure, providing Level 3 support for operational issues, deploying security updates, and managing vulnerability and threat management. Responsibilities include creating tools for remote client repair, collaborating with application owners, coordinating projects, and recommending process automation. The role requires monitoring and managing AWS and Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure and implementing key infrastructure automations. This is a full-time position.
Must have:
  • Minimum 5 years of working experience in Computer Science/Engineering
  • Knowledge of Active Directory, PKI, ADFS, IIS
  • Knowledge of Microsoft System Center Configurations Manager (SCCM) & Operations Manager (SCOM)
  • Virtualization technologies (VMware / Hyper-V)
Good to have:
  • Experience with HP servers including HP Blades/c7000 enclosures, HP OneView
  • Cloud Infrastructure monitoring tools (DataDog, CloudHealth, etc.)
  • AWS and Microsoft Azure

Job Details

The ideal candidate should demonstrate responsibility and focus, along with good communication and presentation skills. They should have a solid technical background in Windows Server Infrastructure and related technologies (including hardware, VMware, and storage) including problem solving and resolution, network diagnostics, monitoring, Automation, scripting and documentation.  Experience with IBM BigFix, System Center Suite, AWS & Microsoft Azure & Automation will be an added advantage.

Role Responsibilities

  • Support Microsoft Windows 2008/2012/2016 & 2019 server platforms, and images for multiple sites, utilised Active Directory/group policy to support and secure client infrastructure.
  • Manage and Support HA infrastructure and related BAU operational work.
  • Provide Level 3 support to solve operational and deployment issues, upgrades, migrations, conflicts and client health issues.
  • Deploy security updates using BigFix & SCCM, Solve and resolve any encountered issues and maintain compliance levels.
  • Vulnerability and threat management of infrastructure.
  • Create tools to easily repair WMI and SCCM clients remotely.
  • Collaborated with application owners and business relation managers to gather requirements for application deployments.
  • Coordinates and manages projects within the team’s scope, creating detailed plans to achieve goals and collaborating closely with the Project team.
  • Coordinates emergent architecture and engineering guidelines across the organization, develop and implements policies, standards, and procedures..
  • Recommends process automation, enhancements, modifications, and service improvements.
  • Upgraded Core Server systems from 2008 R2 to Windows 2016 or later.
  • Fix all aspects of SCCM related queries effectively and understand the product flow patch management, software distribution and logging in detail.
  • Provide monthly reporting of patching activity; work with local teams to resolve patching issues.
  • Administer (monitor, support, prevent, maintain, fix, improve) the virtual and physical VMware & HP blade infrastructure.
  • Provide support for projects, infrastructure upgrades, EOL migration and Cloud Migration.
  • Provide shift & weekend coverage and on call where required.
  • Monitor and manage AWS and Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure.
  • Identify and implement key infrastructure Automations through Powershell and Python.

Candidate profile / Key skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science/Engineering or similar technical field
  • Minimum 5 years of working experience
  • Knowledge on Active Directory, PKI infrastructure, ADFS, IIS, etc.
  • Microsoft System Center Configurations Manager(SCCM) & System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) Knowledge
  • Virtualisation technologies (VMware /Hyper-V)
  • HP servers incl. HP Blades/c7000 enclosures, HP OneView
  • Excellent investigation and solve skills of complex issues.
  • Capability to resolve and highlight risks (migration risks, design risks etc.) to Management.
  • Automation & Scripting skills (Power Shell)
  • Operating System knowledge (Windows Server 2008/2012/2016/2019)
  • Cloud Infrastructure monitoring tools (DataDog, CloudHealth,etc.)
  • AWS & Microsoft Azure
