The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction estimating, particularly in commercial interiors, and the ability to support scalable, data-informed pricing strategies. This role also requires strong client-facing and presentation skills, including experience communicating with executive-level stakeholders.

This is a hybrid position, requiring onsite presence three days per week (Tuesday–Thursday) at the client’s Cupertino campus.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop cost estimates for retail and workspace construction projects, with a focus on modular components and standardized interior elements.
  • Interpret drawings and specifications to assess scope and apply knowledge of materials, labor, and systems.
  • Establish cost baselines for standardized components (e.g., flooring, finishes, fixtures) across various workspace types, programmatic areas, and room type granularity.
  • Support the transition to parametric estimating models in later project phases.
  • Estimate across different geographical locations within the USA, accounting for regional cost variations.
  • Identify and quantify all direct and indirect costs, including site work, building systems, and finishes.
  • Perform value engineering to help clients meet budget goals without compromising quality.
  • Maintain and update cost databases using historical pricing and industry benchmarks.
  • Review subcontractor and supplier bids, analyze proposals, and identify discrepancies.
  • Monitor construction costs throughout the project lifecycle to ensure budget adherence.
  • Provide regular updates on cost status, risks, and financial forecasts.
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to align scope and cost.
  • Prepare and deliver cost analysis reports and presentations to clients and senior stakeholders.
  • Maintain detailed documentation for estimates, change orders, and audit compliance.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, economic factors, and regulatory changes.
  • SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in cost estimating within retail, commercial, or institutional construction.
  • Proven experience with modular or standardized component pricing.
  • Exposure to or interest in parametric modeling and data-driven estimating approaches.
  • Strong understanding of construction materials, labor, and systems.
  • Familiarity with local building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Proficiency with estimating tools such as ProEst, Buildertrend, Procore, Bluebeam, or similar.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Strong presentation and client-facing skills, with experience communicating with executive-level clients.
  • Estimator certification (e.g., AACE, ASPE) is a plus.
