The Senior Expert Graphics Engineer (VFX) will drive the direction of VFX for the game, ensuring an exceptional experience for players. They will influence the technical roadmap, design and implement tools, and foster a culture of excellence. Responsibilities include taking ownership of the VFX system, collaborating with artists and programmers, developing a technical vision, and working with the content team to meet project requirements. This role requires strong expertise in rendering, GPUs, runtime optimization, C++, and graphical algorithms. The engineer will anticipate challenges, propose solutions, and ensure system sustainability.
Must have:
  • 8+ years of programming experience.
  • Strong experience with rendering and GPUs.
  • Significant experience in runtime optimization and multi-threading.
  • Proficiency in C++ and graphical algorithms.
  • Ability to anticipate challenges and propose solutions.
  • Write clean, maintainable, portable, and optimized code.
Good to have:
  • Major recognition in your field of expertise.
  • Contributed significantly to AAA titles, demonstrating leadership.
  • Experience programming on game consoles.

Job Description:

Position available in Warsaw, Poland or Malmö, Sweden (On-Site Hybrid)

Elsewhere Entertainment is looking for a Senior Expert Graphics Engineer (VFX) to join our team and help shape the foundation of our next-generation AAA experiences on our new IP. 
 

In this role, you will drive the direction of VFX for our game to ensure that we deliver an exceptional experience to our future players. You will have a strong influence on the technical roadmap, and you will drive the design, implementation, and tools needed to realize this ambition. You will work closely with engineers and content creators to drive a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration by inspiring those around you with your technical expertise and clear vision for success. 
 
You’ll help us by… 

  • Taking ownership of our VFX system and its future direction. This includes designing runtime systems, data pipelines, and custom authoring tools for our proprietary game engine.  

  • Collaborating closely with VFX artists and other programmers to design, prototype, and implement new features. 

  • Developing and communicating a technical vision and roadmap that aligns with project goals, inspiring and guiding your peers and stakeholders. 

  • Working with the content team to meet project requirements while staying within performance and memory budgets. 

  • Working with stakeholders to translate creative ideas into software. 

  • Collaborate with peers, fostering a culture of learning and technical excellence. 

You’re awesome because you have… 

  • 8+ years of professional programming experience.  

  • Strong experience working with rendering and GPUs. 

  • Significant background in runtime profiling, runtime/memory usage optimization, multi-threading, etc. 

  • Significant proficiency in C++, 3D math, and graphical algorithms and techniques. 

  • Ability to anticipate challenges, propose innovative solutions, and ensure long-term sustainability of systems.  

  • Self-motivated, ability to work independently and efficiently under deadlines.  

  • A strong desire in writing clean, maintainable, portable, and optimized code. 

Bonus points for… 

  • Major recognition in your field(s) of expertise. 

  • Contributed significantly to multiple shipped AAA titles, demonstrating leadership in delivering high-quality results.  

  • Experience programming on game consoles.
