Activision is seeking a Senior Expert Graphics Engineer (VFX) to lead VFX direction for their next-generation AAA game. Responsibilities include designing runtime systems, data pipelines, and custom authoring tools for their proprietary engine. The role requires close collaboration with artists and programmers, developing a technical roadmap, optimizing performance and memory usage, and translating creative ideas into software. The ideal candidate possesses 8+ years of programming experience, strong rendering and GPU expertise, proficiency in C++, 3D math, and graphical algorithms, and a passion for clean, maintainable code.

Job Description:

Position available in Warsaw, Poland or Malmö, Sweden (On-Site Hybrid)

Elsewhere Entertainment is looking for a Senior Expert Graphics Engineer (VFX) to join our team and help shape the foundation of our next-generation AAA experiences on our new IP. 
 

In this role, you will drive the direction of VFX for our game to ensure that we deliver an exceptional experience to our future players. You will have a strong influence on the technical roadmap, and you will drive the design, implementation, and tools needed to realize this ambition. You will work closely with engineers and content creators to drive a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration by inspiring those around you with your technical expertise and clear vision for success. 
 
You’ll help us by… 

  • Taking ownership of our VFX system and its future direction. This includes designing runtime systems, data pipelines, and custom authoring tools for our proprietary game engine.  

  • Collaborating closely with VFX artists and other programmers to design, prototype, and implement new features. 

  • Developing and communicating a technical vision and roadmap that aligns with project goals, inspiring and guiding your peers and stakeholders. 

  • Working with the content team to meet project requirements while staying within performance and memory budgets. 

  • Working with stakeholders to translate creative ideas into software. 

  • Collaborate with peers, fostering a culture of learning and technical excellence. 

You’re awesome because you have… 

  • 8+ years of professional programming experience.  

  • Strong experience working with rendering and GPUs. 

  • Significant background in runtime profiling, runtime/memory usage optimization, multi-threading, etc. 

  • Significant proficiency in C++, 3D math, and graphical algorithms and techniques. 

  • Ability to anticipate challenges, propose innovative solutions, and ensure long-term sustainability of systems.  

  • Self-motivated, ability to work independently and efficiently under deadlines.  

  • A strong desire in writing clean, maintainable, portable, and optimized code. 

Bonus points for… 

  • Major recognition in your field(s) of expertise. 

  • Contributed significantly to multiple shipped AAA titles, demonstrating leadership in delivering high-quality results.  

  • Experience programming on game consoles.
