As a Senior/Expert Online Infrastructure Engineer at Massive Entertainment, you'll design, implement, and operate a global-scale game server infrastructure for AAA online games like Tom Clancy’s The Division, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, and Star Wars Outlaws. Responsibilities include improving monitoring, partnering with development teams, collaborating with IT engineers and vendors, creating automated systems, managing incidents, and participating in on-call rotation. You'll leverage cloud platforms (Azure, GCP, AWS), programming languages (Go, Python), and tools like Terraform, Kubernetes, Grafana, Prometheus, and the ELK stack. The role requires expertise in networking, secret management, CI/CD pipelines, and RDBMS.
Must have:
  • Design, implement, and operate game server infrastructure
  • Experience with cloud providers (Azure, GCP, AWS)
  • Software development using Go and Python
  • Infrastructure orchestration using Terraform
  • Networking expertise (VPCs, VPN, DNS, firewalls, load balancers)
  • CI/CD Pipelines with Packer, Git/Gitlab
Good to have:
  • Kubernetes experience
  • RDBMS experience (PostgreSQL)
  • Linux experience

Job Description

As a Senior/Expert Online Infrastructure Engineer, you will be part of the development team for Tom Clancy’s The Division, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and Star Wars Outlaws. Your primary role will be to design, implement, and operate a global-scale game server infrastructure for these AAA online games. You will work closely with stakeholders at Massive and within the Ubisoft group worldwide to help deliver a great online experience for our players using the latest technologies.

We're offering a permanent position in Malmö, Sweden, with the flexibility to work partially from home (up to two days a week) under our Flexible Workplace Policy. Please apply using English, our company's primary language.

What You'll Do:

  • Design, implement, and operate a highly scalable, global, and efficient game server infrastructure.
  • Improve and maintain our monitoring and alerting capabilities, ensuring timely detection and response to potential issues.
  • Partner with development teams to improve services.
  • Collaborate with other IT engineers, stakeholders, and external vendors to implement, upgrade, or integrate existing or new systems.
  • Create sustainable systems and services through infrastructure automation.
  • Manage incidents and participate in the on-call rotation.

You thrive in a collaborative environment where new ideas are welcomed, and you enjoy learning and experimenting with your team to find creative and innovative solutions to technical challenges. Besides the above we’re looking for someone aligned with our core values and the following skills and experience:

  • Experience with cloud service providers like Azure, GCP, AWS.
  • Familiarity with software development using Go and Python languages.
  • Infrastructure orchestration using Terraform.
  • Networking expertise, including VPCs, VPN, DNS, firewalls, and load balancers within the context of cloud providers.
  • Secret and certificate management, such as Hashicorp Vault.
  • CI/CD Pipelines with Packer, Git/Gitlab.
  • Experience deploying and maintaining service and infrastructure monitoring using tools like Grafana, Prometheus, and ELK stack.
  • Expertise in Kubernetes for container orchestration is beneficial.
  • Previous experience with RDBMS (e.g., PostgreSQL) is beneficial.
  • Linux experience is beneficial.
