Job Description

Haleon, a leading consumer health company, is seeking a Senior Engineer for its Taxonomy Web app team. This role involves overseeing advanced engineering tasks, leading projects, and mentoring junior engineers. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in full-stack Node.js, with proficiency in React-based front-end and back-end API development, focusing on scalable microservices architecture. Responsibilities include architecting and developing RESTful APIs and React websites, troubleshooting technical issues, enforcing engineering best practices with a DevOps mindset, and collaborating with product owners and stakeholders to deliver innovative technical solutions.
Must have:
  • Proven experience leading a Full Stack development team
  • Strong proficiency in TypeScript (ES6+)
  • Extensive experience with Node.js and frameworks like Fastify
  • Familiarity with React Remix framework
  • Solid knowledge of MongoDB and MySQL
  • Experience with Azure cloud platform
  • Test-driven development experience (Vitest/Jest, Playwright)
  • Experience with GitHub version control & Actions workflows
  • Excellent problem-solving and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent
Good to have:
  • Azure Developer certifications (AZ-204)
  • Knowledge of headless CMS solutions
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker, AKS)
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions)
  • Working knowledge of Scrum Agile development

About the role

As a Senior Engineer, within the Haleon Taxonomy Web app team you will at the forefront of innovation, overseeing advanced engineering tasks, leading projects, and guiding junior engineers. This role requires a deep technical expertise in full Stack Node.js and the ability to innovate and solve intricate technical challenges. The ideal candidate will excel in both React based front-end and back-end API development, with a strong emphasis on building scalable and efficient web applications using microservices architecture. You will play a crucial part in driving the technical excellence and success of our engineering team.

Key responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage complex engineering tasks within the Taxonomy Web team, from conception to completion.
  • Architect and develop microservice-based RESTful APIs and React based Websites, promoting re-usable integrations and functionality.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues for the Taxonomy Portal, developing cohesive and actionable plans to overcome technical challenges.
  • Develop and enforce engineering best practices and standards, with a DevOps first mindset, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Identify non-functional requirements, promoting good practices in areas such as accessibility, performance, and security, guiding team members in best practice.
  • Inspire and mentor via engineering excellence junior engineers, building a culture of growth and excellence.
  • Liaise with product owners to transform visionary ideas to life via innovative technical solutions.
  • Collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholder teams to ensure project alignment and quality.

Qualifications and skills

Essential

  • Proven experience leading a Full Stack development team or similar role, demonstrating a strong track record of successful project delivery.
  • Strong proficiency in TypeScript, including ES6+ syntax, and its application in modern web development.
  • Extensive experience with Node.js and frameworks such as Fastify, showcasing the ability to build scalable server-side applications.
  • Familiarity with the React Remix framework for developing dynamic and interactive front-end applications.
  • Solid knowledge of database systems, including MongoDB and MySQL.
  • Experience with the Azure cloud platform, and services for application deployment and scalability.
  • Quality first mindset, with experience in test driven development, covering both unit testing with Vitest or Jest and functional testing with Playwright.
  • Experience and comprehensive understanding of modern DevOps platform technologies, specifically GitHub version control & Actions workflows.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a diverse team environment, technical and non-technical.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred

  • Azure Developer certifications, specifically AZ-204
  • Knowledge of headless CMS solutions and architecture
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Azure kubernetes service).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, specifically GitHub Actions.
  • Working knowledge of Scrum based Agile development.
