Job Description

Gunzilla Games seeks a Senior Game Designer (Weapons) for their AAA Extraction Battle Royale shooter, Off The Grid (OTG). Responsibilities include owning weapon feature and combat system design, balancing weapons and mechanics for fair gameplay, improving existing systems, maintaining design documentation (Confluence, Jira, Microsoft Office), collaborating with various teams, and presenting designs. The ideal candidate will have 4+ years of AAA experience in a senior weapons/combat design role, expertise in weapon design and balancing for multiplayer shooters, and excellent communication skills. They will work closely with gameplay and combat teams to ensure alignment with the game's vision.
Must have:
  • 4+ years AAA game dev experience in senior role focusing on weapons and combat.
  • Expertise in weapon design, balancing, and combat system creation for multiplayer shooters.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to create and maintain comprehensive design documentation.
Good to have:
  • Proficiency in Unreal Engine 5 or 4 and Blueprints.

Founded in 2020, Gunzilla Games is the independent AAA video game developer and publisher behind the free-to-play mobile game TECHNOCORE, the gamer-first blockchain GUNZ, and the upcoming next-gen battle royale Off The Grid, in three metropolitan locations: Frankfurt, Germany (HQ); Kyiv, Ukraine; and London, UK. ABOUT THE JOB

Gunzilla Games are looking to recruit a Senior Game Designer (Weapons) to join us working on our game OTG (Off The Grid), an all-new AAA Extraction Battle Royale shooter, currently available as Early Access on PlayStation®5, Xbox® Series X|S, and PC.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Senior Weapons Designer, you will:

  • Take ownership of the design of weapon features and combat systems, driving end-to-end implementation across the team.
  • Balance weapons and combat mechanics to ensure exciting and fair gameplay, considering weapon attributes, statistics, and overall combat flow.
  • Investigating and designing improvements to existing combat systems, keeping the core vision in mind.
  • Maintain clear design and technical documentation using Confluence, JIRA, and Microsoft Office tools alongside other disciplines.
  • Collaborate with other developers, designers, and artists to ensure consistency and cohesion in weapon design and overall combat systems.
  • Communicate and present weapon and combat designs clearly to your team and management across all disciplines.
  • Work closely with the gameplay and combat teams to ensure weapons and combat systems align with the overall vision and game balance.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 4+ years of experience in AAA game development in a senior role with Weapons and Combat as your primary focus.
  • Proven experience and expertise in weapon design, balancing, and creating combat systems for one or more multiplayer shooter titles.
  • Experience working with combat mechanics, ensuring consistency in weapon behavior, player experience, and game balance.
  • Excellent communication skills, adept at conveying ideas and collaborating effectively.
  • Ability to collaborate with designers, programmers, and artists to ensure across-the-board consistency.
  • Stay up to date on best practices to keep up with industry standards and improve your knowledge and skillset.
  • Ability to create and maintain comprehensive design documentation and specifications.

PLUSSES

  • Proficiency in using Unreal Engine 5 or 4 and Blueprints for rapid implementation of weapon systems is a plus.
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies and project management tools.
  • Knowledge of current gaming trends, player behaviors, and expectations related to weapon gameplay.g.
