Job Description

The Senior Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing high-volume, low-latency applications for mission-critical systems. They will contribute to all phases of the development life cycle, write efficient code, and evaluate improvements. Responsibilities include maintaining and evolving cloud infrastructure (AWS) and Kubernetes clusters. Expertise in OpenSearch is required, including scaling clusters, implementing sharding strategies, performance tuning, and designing disaster recovery solutions. The role involves monitoring performance metrics and implementing automated scaling solutions. They will also be working with an enthusiastic team in a polyglot environment, and will be expected to maintain and develop monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting solutions.
Must have:
  • 7+ years of industry experience.
  • Experience with public cloud infrastructure providers (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud).
  • Experience with Terraform and Docker.
  • Exceptional understanding of Kubernetes concepts.
  • Experience with GOlang/Python/Java/Ruby and databases such as PostgreSQL
Good to have:
  • Contributions to open source projects

Responsibilities

We are looking for an exceptional Senior Infrastructure Engineer with experience in building high-performing, scalable, enterprise-grade applications. to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for building a high-performance queuing/storage engine. You will work in a polyglot environment where you can learn new languages and technologies whilst working with an enthusiastic team. You will also be responsible for:

Software Engineering

  • Design and develop high-volume, low-latency applications for mission-critical systems and deliver high availability and performance

  • Contribute to all phases of the development life cycle

  • Write well-designed, testable, efficient code

  • Evaluate and propose improvements to existing system

  • Support continuous improvement by investigating alternatives and technologies and presenting these for architectural review

Infrastructure Engineering

  • Maintain and evolve application cloud infrastructure (AWS)

  • Maintain and evolve Kubernetes clusters

  • Infrastructure hardening according to compliance and security requirements

  • Maintenance and development of monitoring, logging, tracing, alerting solutions

OpenSearch Expertise

  • Experience scaling OpenSearch clusters to handle heavy query and indexing workloads, including optimizing bulk indexing operations and query throughput

  • Proficiency in implementing and managing effective sharding strategies to balance performance, storage, and recovery needs

  • Advanced knowledge of OpenSearch performance tuning, including JVM settings, field mappings, and cache optimization

  • Expertise in designing robust disaster recovery solutions with cross-cluster replication, snapshots, and restoration procedures

  • Experience implementing and optimizing vector search capabilities for ML applications, including k-NN algorithms and approximate nearest neighbor (ANN) search

  • Knowledge of custom OpenSearch plugin development for specialized indexing or query requirements

  • Hands-on experience deploying and managing self-hosted OpenSearch clusters in Kubernetes environments

  • Familiarity with monitoring OpenSearch performance metrics and implementing automated scaling solutions

Requirements

Qualifications / Experience / Technical Skills

  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject

  • 7+ years of industry experience

  • Experience of working with public cloud infrastructure providers (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud)

  • Experience with Terraform, Docker

  • A hands-on approach to implementing solutions

  • Good understanding of Linux networking and security

  • Exceptional understanding of Kubernetes concepts

  • Experience with GOlang/Python/Java/Ruby (any) and databases such as PostgreSQL

  • Contributions to open source projects is a plus

Soft Skills / Personal Characteristics

  • Readiness to communicate in English with your colleagues and customer
