This role involves advising and leading on a broad range of UK/Europe-focused and global disputes, including high-value litigations, arbitrations, and regulatory matters. The Senior Legal Counsel will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, manage risks, and contribute to the Legal Team's initiatives, reporting to the Head of Legal, Disputes.
Must have:
  • Advise and lead on a broad range of disputes, including high-value litigations, arbitrations, regulatory, competition, IP, consumer, and asset recovery cases.
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders on contentious matters, including junior lawyers and external counsel.
  • Advise, update, and liaise with internal stakeholders on ongoing contentious matters, including Treasury, Banking, Risk, Compliance, Operations, and Boards.
  • Build relationships with business units and become a trusted advisor on financial, consumer regulations, sanctions, AML, anti-bribery, banking, products, partnerships, and employment issues.
  • Identify, assess, manage, and report risks to the business, providing practical advice solutions.
  • Work with the global Legal Team to deliver initiatives impacting the wider business.
  • Report to the Head of Legal, Disputes.

Job Description

  • Advise and lead on a broad range of disputes both UK/Europe-focussed and globally, including high-value litigations and arbitrations, regulatory matters, competition disputes, IP disputes, consumer disputes and asset recovery cases.
  • Work closely with a range of internal and external stakeholders on contentious matters, including working with junior lawyers to gather facts and develop arguments and submissions, and liaising closely, where appropriate, with external counsel.
  • Advise, update and liaise with various internal stakeholders on the status of ongoing contentious matters, including Treasury, Banking and Expansion, Risk, Compliance, Operations and various Boards and committees.
  • Build relationships with multiple business units across the Company and become a trusted advisor on a range of issues including financial and consumer regulations, sanctions, AML and anti-bribery issues, banking arrangements, new products, partnerships, employment issues etc.
  • Identify, assess, manage and report risks to the business and provide practical advice solutions to reduce or mitigate risk.
  • Work with the Legal Team (based in London, New York, Austin, Tallinn, Singapore, Brussels and São Paulo) to deliver initiatives that will impact the wider business.
  • Report to Head of Legal, Disputes
