Job Description

As a Senior Linux Network Software Engineer, you'll design and develop cutting-edge software-defined network load balancing and DDoS prevention systems for a global content distribution network. Collaborating with architecture, engineering, and platform teams, you'll build specialized capabilities at the intersection of networking and software engineering. Your work will ensure high availability, robust protection, and seamless performance for games distributed globally, impacting services for both internal and partner studios. While not directly involved in game engine development, you'll contribute to the critical infrastructure supporting the gaming ecosystem.

Must have:

Strong Linux Kernel networking experience
Expertise in Kubernetes networking primitives
Proficiency with eBPF
Expert-level TCP/IP, network overlay & tunneling
Experience with C, Rust, and Golang

Good to have:

CDN and content delivery experience
Game networking experience
Large network scaling and DDoS mitigation experience
Load balancing technology experience

Senior Linux Network Software Engineer

Adelaide, South Australia

As a Senior Linux Network Software Engineer on the Network team, you will be instrumental in designing and developing cutting-edge software-defined network load balancing and DDoS prevention systems, supporting a global content distribution network that powers exceptional gaming experiences.

This new role focuses on building specialised capabilities within the intersection of networking and software engineering, collaborating closely with network architecture, engineering, and platform teams. You'll help shape high-quality services that provide robust protection, high availability and seamless performance for games distributed globally, including services offered to partner studios.

While not working directly on game engines, you'll contribute to the critical infrastructure that underpins the gaming ecosystem, ensuring the global network operates at its best. This is an opportunity to dive into the intersection of software and networking at the highest level, taking on complex challenges to enhance how games are delivered and played worldwide.

Requirements

BS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
Minimum of 10 years of relevant development experience

Skills & Knowledge

Strong understanding and prior work with Linux Kernel networking
Strong understanding of kubernetes network primitives
Proven experience working with eBPF and related topics
Expert level understanding of TCP/IP
Expert level understanding of network overlay and tunneling mechanisms
Expert level understanding of Kubernetes & Kubernetes Networking
Experience with Internet routing concepts
Proven experience with C, Rust and Golang
Previous experience with CDN and content delivery advantageous
Experience with identifying & troubleshooting network performance issues on both Linux and network devices
Previous experience with game networking advantageous
Previous experience with handling large network scaling and DDoS mitigation advantageous
Previous experience with load balancing technologies
