Microsoft Azure's team is seeking talented hardware design and verification engineers to develop next-generation networking devices. Responsibilities include architecting, designing, and implementing FPGA-based solutions for acceleration/offload products deployed in Microsoft's cloud datacenters. This involves creating efficient UVM-based verification environments, testing designs in simulation and on hardware platforms, working with software teams on driver and application development, and deploying products into cloud production environments. The ideal candidate possesses expertise in micro-architecture, logic design, and verification of ASIC/FPGA designs, and excellent communication skills. Experience with UVM verification, Specman, scripting languages (Python, TCL), networking protocols, storage systems, and formal verification tools is preferred.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in micro-architecture, logic design and/or verification of ASIC/FPGA designs 
  • Ability to crisply articulate end goals and trade-off when faced with an engineering challenge that is not well defined 
  • Excellent communication skills in English 
  • BSc/MSc in Electrical or Computer Engineering
 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with UVM verification or Specman
  • Scripting skills (e.g. python, TCL) 
  • Development of products used in large data centers 
  • Networking protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, RDMA) 
  • Familiarity with storage systems 
  • HW/SW co-development 
  • Experience working with Formal Verification tools such as Jasper or VC-Formal

Responsibilities

  • Architect, design and implement FPGA/based solutions for acceleration/offload products that are deployed in Microsoft’s cloud data centers 
  • Define and implement efficient UVM-based verification environments and use them to verify+test digital designs
  • Test and debug your designs in simulation on hardware-based test platforms, and on large test clusters. All in order to reach cloud-scale quality. 
  • Work with software teams on development of drivers and applications. 
  • Deliver and deploy the products while weighing the various engineering constraints (e.g. performance, schedule, power, etc.) 
  • Deliver the product into cloud production environments and support it through its lifetime.
