The Senior Manager, Acquisition will lead domestic/global licensing efforts for Japanese TV anime content at Disney+. Responsibilities include negotiating with publishers to secure IP, developing exclusive anime content based on manga, formulating acquisition strategies, fostering relationships with rights holders, and ensuring a positive customer experience. This role requires managing SVOD licensing, negotiating terms and contracts, collaborating with internal stakeholders, and overseeing content creation. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Japanese TV anime content acquisition and strong relationships within the industry.
Must have:
  • 5+ years in anime licensing/business development
  • Established relationships in anime industry
  • Anime content development experience
  • Expert contract negotiation skills
  • Native Japanese & business English

Job Summary:

Job Summary:

Be part of the Disney+ Content Team, leading domestic/global licensing efforts for Japanese TV anime content, engaging in negotiations with top publishers to secure popular intellectual properties (IP), and spearheading the development of exclusive anime content based on well-known manga IP. Formulate and implement an anime content acquisition strategy, foster and strengthen provider relationships with anime rights holders, and ensure a robust and continuously improving customer experience for our audience.
 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle SVOD licensing, managing everything from negotiating terms to executing contracts, both globally and within Japan.
  • Work with various key internal stakeholders.
  • Negotiate with leading publishers to acquire popular IP and oversee the creation of exclusive anime content.

Requirements:

  • Over 5 years of experience in account management, licensing, or business development related to Japanese TV anime content.
  • Established relationships with key figures in the anime industry, including major production studios, prominent producers, and top publishers, especially in the context of video content distribution.
  • Experience in anime content development.
  • Demonstrated expertise in negotiating complex agreements and legal contracts.
  • Language proficiency: Native level Japanese and business-level or higher English.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of the digital video landscape, with a solid understanding of digital video distribution technologies.
  • Exceptional business judgment with the ability to think and act strategically and tactically.
  • Strong critical thinking abilities, with meticulous attention to detail and a knack for being highly entrepreneurial even within structured environments.
