Vertex, Inc. is seeking a Senior Manager for Application Development in King of Prussia, PA. This role involves leading and managing multiple engineering scrum teams responsible for building and maintaining integration solutions for Vertex's products. Key responsibilities include overseeing the software development function, implementing business plans and policies, building and maintaining integrations/connectors for all products, providing technical design and solutions, collaborating with product owners and managers on roadmaps, and ensuring alignment with corporate strategy and engineering best practices. The manager will also handle personnel processes such as hiring, performance management, employee relations, and development, determine staff resourcing, and prepare and manage project budgets.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/IT
  • 4 years of experience with REST/SOAP
  • 3 years of experience with AWS/cloud
  • 3 years of SAFe Agile experience
  • 2 years of CI/CD experience
  • 2 years of .Net platform experience
  • Eligible to work remotely in the continental U.S.

Job Description:

Vertex, Inc. seeks a Senior Manager – Application Development  (King of Prussia, PA), to lead and manage multiple engineering scrum teams who are responsible for building and maintaining integration solutions for Vertex’s products. 

  • Oversee the software development function including the implementation of business plans, policies, and procedures.

  • Build and maintain new existing integrations/connectors to all products in our product portfolio that are integral for customers to consume our end products.

  • Provide technical design and solutions to the product and business requirements for these integrations.

  • Collaborate with Product Owners and Product Managers to develop the roadmap for Vertex products.

  • Work closely with architecture, user experience, product, and engineering teams to ensure delivered products are in alignment with corporate strategy, engineering best practices, and the company’s high-quality standards. 

  • Manage and coach team on all personnel related processes including hiring, performance management, employee relations, compensation and rewards, and employee development.

  • Determine appropriate resourcing of staff to achieve the team’s goals and objectives.

  • Prepare and manage budget as assigned for each project.

  • Analyze variances and initiate corrective actions to maximize operational performance.

REQUIREMENTS:             

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Technology or a closely related field.

  • 4 years of experience following the standards of REST and SOAP web services.

  • 3 years of experience using AWS and cloud infrastructures. 

  • 3 years of experience performing SAFe Agile practices.

  • 2 years of experience practicing Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD).

  • 2 years of experience using the .Net platform.

  • Eligible to work remotely 100% of time anywhere in the continental U.S.

Base pay offered to new hires may vary based upon factors including relevant industry and job-related skills and experience, geographic location, and business needs.* The range displayed does not encompass the full potential of the role, which allows for further growth and career progression.

In addition, as a part of our total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Vertex Bonus Plan (VOB), a role-specific sales commission/bonus, and/or equity grants.
