We're looking for an experienced Senior Manager, Engineering to join our ZPA team, reporting to the Senior Director of Engineer. This is a hybrid role going in to the San Jose office 3 days a week
Responsibilities
We are looking for an experienced Engineering Leader whose role will encompass multiple aspects of program delivery, technical leadership, and people management. This position includes responsibilities for providing overall leadership to the team, setting a direction for the team, ensuring all commitments are met. You will lead a DataZone team of individual contributors from the software engineering discipline. You will work with a team of engineers and architects and will be responsible for prototyping, designing, developing, and supporting a highly distributed and scalable SaaS-based cloud service product called ZPA (Zscaler Private Access).
- Passionate about building a best in class product with a focus on RASS – Reliability, Availability, Scalability and Security.
- Communicating technical solutions to all levels within-group and cross-discipline; status reporting and presenting solutions is an important part of the job
- Ensure highly available services with zero downtime. Develop and run services in partnership with the operations teams
- Produce high-quality software following good architecture and design principles that you and your team will find it easy to work with in the future
What We're Looking for (Minimum Qualifications)
- 5+ years of Engineering Management experience with a track record in managing Global Engineering teams
- 8+ years of hands-on development experience including relevant experience developing networking and systems software products and solutions with experience in TCP/IP, UDP, and networking protocols, cloud infrastructure services on AWS/Azure/GCP
- Experience leading team members to forge consensus on technical discussions including architectural and design guidelines, code reviews, release process, and communicate with all levels of the organization, both orally and written
- Experience in Development processes like creating technical, architectural and deployment documents and QA processes like designing test plans, functional testing, end to end scenario automation, performance, and security testing.
- Set the technical direction of the entire ZPA DataZone and influence the team to raise the standards in reliability, performance, scalability, architecture, security and engineering best practices.
What Will Make You Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)
- Prior experience with distributed software product architectures, including design / architectural patterns and automation platforms.
- Experience building full CI/CD systems using Kubernetes
- Experience being on call and dealing with cloud incidents and writing RCAs

The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations and could be higher or lower based on a multitude of factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
