Job Description

The Senior Mechanical Product Engineer role involves project management, product validation, and product design for device connection systems. Responsibilities include designing robust systems, managing new product design implementations, ensuring customer deliverables are met, directing product validation and testing, analyzing and solving problems, preparing design analysis reports, providing engineering support for various activities, and maintaining customer contact. The role requires leading projects, generating innovative solutions, and having experience in designing various components with knowledge of manufacturing processes.

Senior Mechanical Product Engineer

Your Role

The major responsibilities of the position are project management, product validation, and product design.  Candidates must possess a working knowledge involving device connections and a solid work ethic with an aptitude for project management, problem solving, and product design.

Key job responsibilities for this role include:

  • Develop and design robust Device Connection Systems.
  • Manage the implementation of new product designs from concept through production. Coordinate with CAD, Purchasing, Suppliers, Manufacturing Engineering, and Quality.
  • Establish, document, and follow project schedule.
  • Ensure customer deliverables are met (prototypes, pilots, Production Trial Run parts, etc.).
  • Meet customer quality and timing requirements.
  • Direct the validation and testing of new product designs. Assure performance to requirements.
  • Analyze problems, develop and implement solutions.
  • Assure thorough design reviews throughout the product design cycle using analytical tools, development testing, prototypes, multi-disciplined teams, etc.
  • Prepare and deliver design analysis reports including DFMEA, FEA, and tolerance stacks.
  • Provide engineering support for tooling, process, manufacturing and SQA activities.
  • Maintain professional and responsive customer contact.

Your Background (Basic Qualifications)

  • Ability to lead projects, directing the activity of multiple support organizations and assure timely completion of deliverables.
  • Ability to work independently and motivate others.
  • Ability to generate innovative and cost effective design solutions.
  • Experience in design of injection molded, rubber, sheet metal and cast metal components, with a general knowledge of the manufacturing process for each.
  • Experienced in effectively using analysis tools to predict and correct potential problems in the virtual environment.
  • Possess sufficient CAD skills to open, manipulate, assemble, and make minor modifications to 3D component models.
  • Experience in applying GD&T dimensioning and performing tolerance stacks.
  • Possess general knowledge of Device (header) Connections.
  • Ability to effectively prepare and deliver technical presentations to customers.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

  • Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Project, Excel, Outlook, Skype, Visio, etc.)
  • Ability to work effectively with people at all levels in an organization

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a strong ability to work with a team
  • Ability to effectively organize, prioritize and accomplish multiple conflicting tasks, make intelligent, timely decisions and solve problems independently
