Job Description
As a Senior NodeJS Developer at Koombea, you will be responsible for building web applications and APIs using NodeJS and NestJS, ensuring adherence to best practices, and focusing on building performant code and testing with libraries like Cypress, Mocha, and Jest. Your duties will include designing and implementing RESTful APIs and microservices, optimizing data storage solutions, maintaining code quality, and implementing software development best practices. You will also be expected to stay updated with new technologies.
Must have:
- 5+ years of experience with Node.js
- Experience working with AWS
- Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs
- Experience working with NoSQL and relational databases
- Experience working with WebSockets
- Experience with Cursor
- Experience with Windsurf
- Experience with AWS Bedrock
Good to have:
- Experience with other backend languages or frameworks like PHP, Ruby, etc.
- Working with CI and CD pipelines
- Experience with ExpressJS and other popular Node.js libraries and frameworks
- Experience with JS frameworks such as React, Vue, etc

The Job
Your main goals will be: building web applications or APIs using NodeJS./NestJS. You will make sure to use best practices and focus on building performant code and testing with libraries (cypres, mocha, jest, etc). Other Tech Stacks required: MongoDB, EC2, cloud formation, S3.
What You’ll Do
- Help with the development and maintenance of backend systems using Node.js to ensure high performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Design and implement RESTful APIs and microservices to support front-end applications.
- Design and optimize data storage solutions for efficient and scalable performance.
- Maintain and improve code quality, organization, and automatization.
- Implement best practices in software development, including code reviews, testing, and documentation.
What You’ll Bring to the Team
- 5+ years of experience with Node.js
- Experience working with AWS
- Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs
- Experience working with NoSQL and relational databases
