We're a remote-first company, but we believe people should be able to work where they can be most productive. Currently, we can employ in the United States and Canada. We also have offices in Los Angeles and Seattle for those interested in hybrid or full-time office work.

We are looking for a Senior Online Engineer to help us build the systems and features of a modern multiplayer game. If you have a passion for building online games and are excited about delivering a rock solid multiplayer experience that brings players together, this role could be for you. You will partner closely with our backend services team to write the game client and dedicated server code that serves as a bridge between backend and game systems. It will be your responsibility to make sure that the client and server have well-defined game loops, handle errors gracefully, and interact with backend services correctly and efficiently. You will also be responsible for integrating various platform online features such as login, parties, matchmaking, friends, and more. Working with the game team, you will identify how various game features need to interact with online services components and provide tools, APIs, and guidance required to enable those interactions. As a part of our engineering team, you will contribute to a culture of collaborative problem-solving, technical excellence, and continuous education and improvement.

Responsibilities

    • Own the overall game loop for the game client and dedicated server, from launch through lobby, gameplay, and shutdown.
    • Integrate online features of each supported platform with our cross-platform backend services.
    • Ensure certification requirements related to online and multiplayer functionality for each platform are met.
    • Collaborate with backend services and game engineers to build the systems and APIs required to integrate game systems with backend services.
    •  Ensure efficient use of backend service APIs, and gracefully handle any errors.

Requirements

    • 5+ years of experience in game development.
    • Excellent C++ programming and debugging skills.
    • Experience shipping and maintaining an online multiplayer title for console.
    • Experience writing game client and server code which interacts with a modern backend game services platform.
Compensation: We believe that a team that builds together wins together. Because of that, our compensation packages consist of competitive industry standard base salaries, an annual bonus, and royalties. For this specific role, the base salary range is $170,000 to $220,000 (USD) with the final salary offered dependent on job-related skills, knowledge, experience, and internal equity.
