Job Description

The Senior Partnership Accountant will be responsible for reviewing and approving journal entries and reconciliations, preparing calculations for the firm’s waterfall and resulting members’ distributable income and ending capital. This role involves preparing quarterly and annual projection statements, maintaining records of members’ capital and loans, managing draws and distributions, and communicating annual return information to investors. The candidate will also prepare supporting schedules for external auditors, liaise with the Tax team, implement standardized processes, and provide excellent service to members by providing timely and accurate information. This role requires strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a challenging, fast-paced environment.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or related field
  • 10-15 years of experience in public accounting and/or finance
  • Solid understanding of US GAAP and strong analytical abilities
  • Strong communicator with ability to build relationships
  • Organized with excellent attention to detail
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • Ability to handle competing priorities and hard deadlines

About the Position

  • Reviewing and approving journal entries and reconciliations
  • Preparing calculations for the firm’s waterfall and resulting members’ distributable income and ending capital
  • Preparing and reviewing quarterly statements and annual projection statements for members/investors, adhering to tight deadlines (e.g., during the holiday season approaching year-end and in early January, and on an as-needed basis for other deadlines)
  • Maintaining timely and accurate records of members’ capital and loans
  • Maintaining the activity related to the members’ draws and distributions, and coordinating with other stakeholders on cash management as necessary
  • Preparing and communicating annual return information to investors
  • Preparing supporting schedules for external auditors
  • Liaising with the Tax team on members’ income and capital as needed for quarterly and year-end tax estimates
  • Implementing standardized processes and automating the monthly income and capital allocations
  • Providing excellent service to the members, which includes providing timely and accurate information and communicating in a professional and courteous manner
  • Maintaining documentation of all processes and driving improvements and efficiencies by partnering closely with other teams to establish best practices for partnership accounting 

About You

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or a related field
  • 10-15 years of experience in public accounting and/or finance
  • Have a solid understanding of US GAAP and demonstrate strong analytical and critical thinking abilities
  • Strong communicator with a proven ability to build relationships across various groups
  • Organized with excellent attention to detail, a sense of urgency, and a “can-do” attitude to address and resolve issues
  • Have intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • Able to handle competing priorities and work effectively in a challenging, fast-paced environment with hard deadlines
  • Mature, trustworthy, and discreet, with an appreciation for the importance of confidentiality in this role
