Job Description

The Maya Pipeline Developer collaborates with Pipeline Leads to build a Maya pipeline that spans Modeling, Rigging, Animation, and Tracking/Matchmove, using OpenUSD as a backbone. They leverage their production experience to create intuitive and self-documenting workflows that can be quickly adopted by users of differing skill levels, and which can operate efficiently on scenes of extreme scale and complexity. Key responsibilities include solving complex problems in Maya pipeline workflows, writing high-quality Python code, communicating with artists, and contributing to technical briefs and user documentation.
Must have:
  • 8+ years experience writing Maya pipeline code using Python
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Design intuitive, artist-friendly workflows
Good to have:
  • Experience as an artist using Maya in production
  • Experience writing a Maya pipeline using OpenUSD
  • Experience programming in C++

The Maya Pipeline Developer collaborates with Pipeline Leads to build a Maya pipeline that spans Modeling, Rigging, Animation, and Tracking/Matchmove, using OpenUSD as a backbone. They leverage their production experience to create intuitive and self-documenting workflows that can be quickly adopted by users of differing skill levels, and which can operate efficiently on scenes of extreme scale and complexity.  Key Responsibilities
  • Solve complex problems in the domain of Maya pipeline workflows
  • Write high quality Python code that is easy to maintain and is well-tested 
  • Communicate with artists to identify areas of inefficiency and help gather their requirements
  • Contribute to technical briefs and user documentation
Qualifications
  • Passion for staying on top of latest features in Maya
  • 8+ years experience writing Maya pipeline code using python
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated talent for designing intuitive, artist-friendly workflows without sacrificing functionality
  • Understanding of object-oriented programming patterns
  • Comfortable with git and unit testing
  • Desire to probe and understand the inner workings of complex systems
  • Experience as an artist using Maya in production preferred
  • Experience writing a Maya pipeline using OpenUSD preferred
  • Experience programming in C++ preferred
