Job Description

As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and improving automation tooling for Azure-based environments. This includes CI/CD, infrastructure automation, and tooling development. You will collaborate with developers, QA, and infrastructure teams to create scalable automation solutions and enhance the reliability of software delivery. Your responsibilities will encompass designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, developing custom automation tooling, defining and optimizing build configurations, implementing versioning strategies, and troubleshooting build failures. You'll also manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using ARM templates, Bicep, or Terraform, as well as writing and maintaining scripts for automation. Collaboration with engineering teams, mentoring on best practices, and continuous evaluation of new technologies are also key aspects of this role.
Must have:
  • 5-8 years of experience in build and release engineering.
  • Expertise in CI/CD pipeline automation using Azure DevOps.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
  • Good understanding of C#.
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Experience working with Azure cloud resources.
  • Strong understanding of Git version control.
  • Experience integrating logging, monitoring, and alerting tools.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex build failures.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
Good to have:
  • Experience with C# and React for tooling.
  • Exposure to database CI/CD automation.
  • Knowledge of multi-cloud and hybrid-cloud automation.
  • Experience with serverless architectures.

We are seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to design, develop, and enhance automation tooling for our Azure-based environments. This role focuses on CI/CD, infrastructure automation, and tooling development to streamline software builds, improve release processes, and drive efficiency across engineering teams. You will work closely with developers, QA, and infrastructure teams to create scalable automation solutions that enhance the reliability of our software delivery.

 

Primary responsibilities will include:

 

Build & Release Engineering

  • Designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins to enable automated builds and deployments
  • Developing custom automation tooling to enhance build performance, release management, and deployment workflows
  • Defining and optimizing build configurations, dependency management, and artifact handling (NuGet, npm, Azure Artifacts)
  • Implementing versioning strategies, branching models (GitFlow, trunk-based), and automated rollback mechanisms
  • Troubleshooting build failures, release issues, and performance bottlenecks in the software delivery process
  • Should be capable of conducting an initial analysis of .NET build failures/issues

 

Automation Tooling & Infrastructure Management

  • Developing and managing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using ARM templates, Bicep or Terraform, to provision and configure Azure environments
  • Writing and maintaining PowerShell, Bash, and Python scripts for automating infrastructure setup, build processes, and release pipelines
  • Integrating and automating logging, monitoring, and alerting within the build and release processes using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights
  • Improving automation frameworks to reduce manual effort, enhance deployment efficiency, and enforce best practices.

 

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Working closely with engineering, QA, and infrastructure teams to drive continuous improvements in automation and release management
  • Mentoring developers and engineers on best practices for build automation, release strategies, and pipeline optimizations
  • Continuously evaluating and integrating new tools, frameworks, and automation techniques to enhance software delivery
  • Maintaining clear documentation for build/release workflows, automation scripts, and troubleshooting guides

 

The Candidate:

Required skills/qualifications: 

  • 5-8 years of experience in Build & Release Engineering, Automation Tooling, or Software Configuration Management
  • Expertise in CI/CD pipeline automation using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins
  • Strong scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, Bash, Python) for managing build, release, and infrastructure processes
  • Good understanding of C#
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates
  • Experience working with Azure cloud resources (VMs, App Services, Functions, Storage)
  • Strong understanding of Git version control, branching strategies, and repository management
  • Experience integrating logging, monitoring, and alerting tools into automation workflows
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex build failures and release issues in production environments
  • Fluency in written and spoken English at CEF B2 level or above

 

Preferred skills/qualifications:

  • Experience with C# and React for developing and maintaining an in-house portal to improve automation tooling
  • Exposure to database CI/CD automation (SQL MI, PostgreSQL, Cosmos DB)
  • Knowledge of multi-cloud and hybrid-cloud automation strategies
  • Experience with serverless architectures (Azure Functions, Logic Apps) for automation use cases
