About You

At Atmosphere, we are seeking a Platform Engineer with a passion for cloud and devops engineering to play a pivotal role on our Platform Engineering team, focusing on mobile and streaming devices. This is a high-impact, high-visibility position within our dynamic and collaborative product engineering organization. As an integral part of the team, you will have a unique opportunity to own and develop your space, supported by the expertise of the wider Platform Engineering team.

Your primary mission will be to enhance the efficiency and quality of our mobile and device software delivery processes. Your expertise in AWS cloud services, including EC2, S3, and containerization, will be crucial in optimizing our infrastructure for peak performance and reliability. You will play a key role in automating our device and mobile pipelines, ensuring our teams can deliver high-quality software and updates swiftly and efficiently.

This role is designed for someone with a DevOps/SRE mindset who thrives on improving developer experiences and operational practices, making it easier for our teams to excel in the fast-paced world of mobile and streaming device development. Key Responsibilities

  • Refine and Optimize CI/CD Workflows: Spearhead the development and ongoing optimization of our CI/CD pipelines with GitLab, ensuring streamlined deployment processes for our suite of products, including Android OS (AOSP), custom Android devices, and iOS and tvOS applications.
  • Elevate Developer Tools and Experiences: Actively collaborate with engineering teams to refine and expand developer tools and environments, incorporating technologies like Fastlane to automate and enhance the development lifecycle.
  • AWS Cloud Infrastructure Management: Oversee the management and growth of our mobile and streaming device AWS cloud infrastructure, emphasizing principles of reliability, scalability, and security. Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices using tools such as Terraform to automate and manage our cloud resources efficiently.
  • Best Practices and Operational Excellence: In partnership with team and engineering stakeholders, lead the identification and adoption of operational best practices, aiming to boost developer satisfaction and achieve operational excellence.
  • Champion Continuous Improvement: Drive initiatives focused on continuous improvement, adopting a DevOps mindset to inspire innovation and elevate efficiency across all engineering projects.
  • Foster Knowledge Sharing: Engage in pairing sessions and other collaborative activities to disseminate knowledge, promote a learning culture, and contribute to the team's collective development and expertise.


Ideal Candidate

  • Proven DevOps Expertise: Possesses substantial experience in DevOps Engineering, Platform Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering, with a demonstrated track record in device (Android OSP, tvOS) or mobile projects (Android, iOS)
  • Technical Mastery: Exhibits deep proficiency with AWS services (EC2, S3, Containers), and is skilled in using Terraform, Packer, GitLab, and Fastlane. Has a solid grasp of CI/CD principles and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) methodologies.
  • Innovation and Automation Driven: Shows a strong passion for leveraging automation and cutting-edge tooling to enhance developer workflows and experiences.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Thrives in a team-oriented setting, values collaborative problem-solving, and enjoys working closely with colleagues to meet shared objectives.
