Project description

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior PostgreSQL and Snowflake Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have 9-12 years of hands-on experience in database design, development, performance tuning, and cloud-based data warehousing solutions. You will play a key role in architecting, developing, and optimizing our PostgreSQL and Snowflake environments to support mission-critical data applications.

Responsibilities

Database Architecture & Design: Lead the design and implementation of scalable and efficient PostgreSQL and Snowflake database architectures.

Database Development: Develop and optimize complex queries, stored procedures, and functions for PostgreSQL and Snowflake platforms.

Data Integration: Design and implement ETL pipelines to move data between PostgreSQL, Snowflake, and other systems using modern data engineering tools (e.g., AWS Glue, Apache Airflow).

Performance Tuning: Conduct performance analysis and optimization of databases, including indexing, partitioning, query tuning, and load balancing.

Data Security & Compliance: Ensure data security and privacy in PostgreSQL and Snowflake environments, adhering to company and regulatory standards (e.g., GDPR, SOC 2).

Cloud Expertise: Leverage cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) to enhance the scalability and performance of database systems, with a focus on Snowflake's cloud-native architecture.

Automation & Monitoring: Automate database processes, implement monitoring solutions, and handle troubleshooting to maintain high availability.

Collaboration & Leadership: Work closely with cross-functional teams including data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to design data solutions that support business goals. Mentor junior engineers in PostgreSQL and Snowflake best practices.

Documentation & Best Practices: Maintain comprehensive documentation for all database-related projects, promoting best practices in database development and management.

Skills

Must have

Experience: 9-12 years of hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and Snowflake, including data modeling, query optimization, and database administration.

In-depth knowledge of PostgreSQL, including schema design, indexing, and replication strategies.

Expertise in Snowflake, including cloud deployment, data warehousing concepts, and performance tuning.

Strong proficiency in SQL and PL/pgSQL programming.

Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and data integration tools (AWS Glue, Apache Airflow).

Experience in ETL processes, data migration, and real-time data streaming technologies.

Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.

Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Proven ability to diagnose and resolve performance issues in large-scale database environments.

Security & Compliance: Understanding of data privacy, security protocols, and compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, SOC 2).

Soft Skills: Strong communication and leadership skills with a proven track record of mentoring and leading technical teams.

Nice to have

Experience with additional database systems like MySQL, Oracle, or MongoDB.

Certifications in PostgreSQL, Snowflake, or cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure.

Exposure to data science or machine learning projects involving big data.
