About the job

Job Description

As a (Senior) Power Electronics Controls Engineer, you will design, implement, and validate control algorithms for power electronics systems used in energy storage and automotive products. Responsibilities include developing embedded software (primarily in C), modeling and simulating power converter dynamics using MATLAB/Simulink and HiL systems, performing hardware testing and troubleshooting, collaborating with cross-functional teams, supporting manufacturing, and assisting product deployment teams. This role requires a strong foundation in control theory and power electronics, experience with real-time control applications, proficiency in C programming, and familiarity with microcontroller peripherals and communication protocols. The position contributes to sustainable energy solutions.
Must have:
  • Embedded systems development
  • Real-time control applications
  • Proficiency in C programming
  • Control theory and power electronics knowledge
  • Hardware testing and troubleshooting
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams
Good to have:
  • Familiarity with safety and compliance standards
What to Expect
As a Power Electronics Controls Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in developing advanced control algorithms for power converters used in energy storage and automotive products. You will be responsible for designing, testing, and validating control solutions for AC/DC and DC/DC power conversion systems, collaborating closely with hardware, firmware, and deployment teams. This is an opportunity to work at the forefront of power electronics technology, contributing to the global transition to sustainable energy solutions.
What You’ll Do
  • Design, implement, and validate control algorithms for power electronics systems, ensuring high performance and efficiency across a range of energy and automotive products.

  • Develop embedded software and firmware, primarily in C, for real-time control applications in AC/DC and DC/DC power converters.

  • Model and simulate power converter dynamics to optimize control strategies using tools like MATLAB/Simulink and hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) systems.

  • Perform hands-on testing, validation, and troubleshooting of control algorithms on hardware platforms.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements, select microcontrollers, and integrate control algorithms into firmware frameworks.

  • Support manufacturing by developing test firmware and providing technical support for product assembly at both internal and external facilities.

  • Assist product deployment teams by tracking fleet performance, diagnosing behavioral issues, and providing firmware updates to enhance product features and reliability.

What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with a strong foundation in control theory and power electronics.

  • At least 2 years of experience in embedded systems development with real-time control applications, particularly in power electronics.

  • Proficiency in C programming and experience with microcontroller peripherals (ADC, DAC, PWM) and communication protocols (SPI, I2C, CAN).

  • Strong knowledge of dynamic modeling and simulation for control system design.

  • Hands-on experience with hardware testing, troubleshooting, and validation.

  • Familiarity with safety and compliance standards for grid-connected power electronics is a plus.
