As a Senior Product Analyst for Old School RuneScape, you'll deliver insights and guidance to the team, influencing product and feature roadmaps. Responsibilities include fostering strong working relationships, generating hypotheses from various data sources, querying and analyzing big data to improve games and player experience, partnering with development and engineering teams on telemetry, leading insights projects, conducting deep-dive analysis on player behavior and churn, brainstorming with teams to refine analysis plans, presenting conclusions to stakeholders, partnering with data engineering on data management, conducting effective analysis while adhering to best practices, and developing a strong understanding of game mechanics and telemetry. The role requires strong analytical skills, experience with data visualization tools and SQL, and a passion for improving player experience in a MMORPG environment.
Must have:
  • Proven experience in B2C player analytics
  • Familiarity with modern data architectures (AWS, Snowflake, OLAP)
  • Experience with SQL, statistical modeling, data cleansing
  • Strong data visualization skills (Tableau, PowerBI)
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Interest in video games and player experience

Are you an experienced, hands-on product analyst with an interest in video games, and is looking for an opportunity to influence the direction of one of the world’s most popular MMORPGs?

As a Senior Product Analyst on Old School RuneScape, you will deliver insights, learning and guidance to the team and will guide decision making on product and feature roadmaps to help inform and improve player experience.

 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Foster and maintain strong working relationships across the studio to promote a data-driven partnership.
  • Generate hypotheses and guidance across many types of data across many groups to grow and improve Old School RuneScape.  
  • Query and analyse big data to uncover high-value insights with direct impact to improve games and player experience. 
  • Partner closely with game development and engineering teams in designing telemetry events to better understand product quality.
  • Lead insights projects that guide decisions on product and feature roadmaps, using a variety of data sources.
  • Deep dive analysis on the impact on the intersection between quality signals and player behaviours, including churn and other factors.
  • Brainstorm with development and business teams to direct ambiguous questions or misleading metrics into impactful analysis plans.
  • Drive deep, impactful learnings by working across data, game design and research to deliver a story driven direction based in data.
  • Present analysis conclusions to business stakeholders in a clear and practical way.
  • Partner with data engineering to manage data requirements such as schema requirements and data format to support high-quality deliverables. 
  • Conduct effective analysis while adhering version control, documentation, and reproducibility. 
  • Develop a strong understanding of the game mechanics and telemetry.

 

What we’re looking for:

  • Proven and demonstrable experience working in a consumer, user or player analytics role in a B2C company.
  • Familiarity and experience working with modern data architectures (AWS, Snowflake, OLAP)
  • Proven experience using modern data visualization tools e.g Tableau, PowerBI etc.
  • Strong knowledge and experience working with SQL & Statistical Modeling & Data Cleansing Techniques.
  • A genuine interest in the video games industry and the improvement of player experience.
  • Demonstrable experience of crafting a clear message for your audience using complex ideas and insights in a simple to understand manner. 
  • Base understanding of project management, research, and scientific testing.
  • Strong domain knowledge in assessing digital products in core statistical modelling and toolsets.
